Looking after everyone

You’ll get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations

Everything for serving comes with us, so you only need to provide the space.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal, and they’re listed in your quote.

A hog roast compared with other options

A hog roast has one downside: it’s pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, so you know exactly what you are paying for.

Why Lindfield hosts choose us

  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Served at the time you choose
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

Prices and what affects them

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Distance from us
  • Which meats and sides you choose
  • How many people are eating
  • Site access

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

  • The venue or postcode
  • Any venue rules
  • What the outdoor space is like

For a quote, send us a few details: your date, your venue or postcode, how many people and any menu choices. Send us your details through our quote form.

Working with your venue

If you are a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers.

Event organisers frequently ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we will tell you what we can send.

What the cooking area needs

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot
  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
  • Parking near the spot

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

How the day works

Here’s how the day usually runs: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you’re ready. Because the roast takes hours, daylight is worth planning: in Lindfield, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:55pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the cooking area, then send a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

How to get a price

Send us the date, the address or RH16 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We’ll check the date and send a quote. Use our quote form.
