About our hog roast hire in Middleton Stoney

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, which means it’s carved hot, with crisp crackling. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. For weddings and receptions and work summer parties, we can cook hog roast rolls, rotisserie chicken and halloumi skewers and more.

Somewhere like Middleton Stoney, a yard or firm field often works. Mention gates and soft ground when you get in touch. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Should I cook it myself?

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Planning the cooking spot

Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:

  • Nothing overhead that could catch the heat
  • A level patch of lawn, patio or hardstanding
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

From the roaster

  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Coleslaw
  • Roast or jacket potatoes
  • New potatoes
  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Salads
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Apple sauce
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Stuffing
  • Crackling

What a hog roast costs

We work out each quote from:

  • Distance from us
  • Numbers
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site

UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Details that help

To check the date and the space, we will need:

  • Rough numbers
  • Anything the venue has asked for
  • Allergies we should know about
  • What the outdoor space is like

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we’ll quote on that, and you can confirm nearer the time. Use our quote form.

Spit-roast lamb

Adding lamb gives people a choice of two roasts, which suits bigger events.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

For vegans, there is a vegan burger or sausage in a roll, so everyone has something hot.

Looking after everyone

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Ask about allergies when you send invitations
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information

You will not need to worry about the food on the day. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, then clear up.

We can supply china instead of standard plates, at an extra cost.

Middleton Stoney questions

Is Middleton Stoney close to London?

About 56 miles from central London.

Can you cater after a service at Church of All Saints?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you clear up?

We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we don’t offer halal meat.

How big a hog will we need?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

Can you roast in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.

How far ahead should we book?

Popular dates go early. But it’s always worth asking: use our quote form.

How the day works

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up where we’ve agreed, and get on with roasting and serving. In Middleton Stoney, the sun sets at about 9:30pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is typically in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Next to a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, so nobody stands at a grill all afternoon. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
