Perfect for your event in Poyle

These are some of the most popular hog roast bookings near Poyle:

  • Work summer parties

  • How they handle allergens and dietary needs
  • When payments are due and what happens if plans change
  • What the cooking area needs: space, cover and access

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:

  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

Everything for serving comes with us, so all you need is the space.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal.

Planning the cooking spot

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A safe distance from walls, tents and trees
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather
  • A way to wheel the roaster to the spot

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

Popular choices

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Roast or jacket potatoes
  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)
  • Stuffing
  • Apple sauce
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Salads
  • Crackling
  • New potatoes
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Coleslaw

The process

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up where we have agreed, and roast, carve and serve without fuss. Evenings in Poyle stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Getting a price

Send us the date, the address or SL3 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We will confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

Hog roast hire around Poyle

Poyle is about 3 miles north of Staines-upon-Thames, in Slough. Poyle and the surrounding area are covered for events. We cater 31 places across Slough, from the larger towns to small villages. We cater events right across the region, from Poyle to Guildford (about 16 miles away).

If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Pippins School, a hog roast is a crowd-pleaser. A green space like Arthur Jacob Nature Reserve is tempting, but a gas-fired roaster there needs the landowner’s say-so, typically the council’s.

We cover events in every part of SL3 and the streets around it. Local streets include Poplar Close, Sherborne Close and Bath Road; an event on any of them works well with outdoor space and a way in. We also bring hog roasts to events in Colnbrook (1 mile north-west), Horton (1 mile south-west), Brands Hill (1 mile west), Stanwell Moor (1 mile south-east) and Sunnymeads (2 miles west). Further out, we also cater in Slough (5 miles north-west), Cippenham (6 miles north-west), Chalvey (5 miles north-west), Britwell (6 miles north-west), Langley (3 miles north-west) and Upton (4 miles north-west).

Other landmarks nearby include Spelthorne Museum (3.2 miles south) and Windsor Castle (3.9 miles west). Within reach you will find Crane Meadows and Staines Reservoirs.

  • Local schools include Langley Grammar School (2.2 miles north-west)
  • Local pubs include The Punch Bowl pub (under half a mile north-west)

About the food

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, a hot, filling option of their own.

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken off the rotisserie, carved or jointed can be served in a roll or on a plate.

Full catering or machine hire?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you, especially outdoors.

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • How many people are eating
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Whether you want china
  • The serving time and how long we are on site

The main driver is numbers: bigger groups typically cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What to tell us

When you enquire, please mention:

  • Any venue rules
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Getting a quote is simple: date, place, numbers and serving time. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Fill in our quote form.

Questions from Poyle

Which station is closest to Poyle?

The closest is Heathrow Terminal 5 Rail station, roughly 1.2 miles away.

We are gathering after a service at Church of St Thomas: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.

What comes with the hog roast?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Is crackling included?

Crackling is part of every roll for anyone who wants it.

Can you work around our timings?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Do you need power or water?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. Power can help with lighting after dark.

What happens when we hire a hog roast?

You choose the date, the menu and the serving time; we do the rest. All we need is a place to cook outdoors.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you are a venue or event planner, we are happy to work alongside your team, sharing timings and a site plan.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
