Hog roast hire for your event in St Denys
Booking a hog roast means you don’t have to cook. We arrive hours before you eat, set up under cover and roast slowly, then carve and serve at the time you choose. Typical bookings include Fêtes, fairs and shows and christmas fairs, serving halloumi skewers, new potatoes and hog roast rolls.
For a place the size of St Denys, your own garden is often the best venue: space to cook, no venue hire and no cooking for you. Tell us about access down the drive or side of the house. Your quote spells out what’s included: the date, the serving time, the menu and the plates.

Planners, venues and businesses
Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.
For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.
What comes off the roaster
Stuffing and apple sauce
Stuffing and a dollop of apple sauce make the roll, just as they should.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
Everything goes into a soft roll, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.
Catered or do it yourself?
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.
The process
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. By late September, sunset in St Denys is around 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:00pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.
- It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
- We check availability and the space for the roaster and send a clear quote.
- On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
- Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
- Afterwards we clear up and leave the spot tidy.
How to prepare
- Make sure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
- Give us final numbers a week or so before
How to get a price
Busy weekends book up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Tell us your date and we’ll check it: fill in our quote form.
Planning help
Looking after everyone
Most people love a hog roast, but it is pork. Here’s how to cover everyone:
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
- Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly
- If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
- Tell us about vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
Expect us to be on site for much of the day, since slow roasting starts early.
Ask for gluten-free rolls for anyone who needs them.

Common questions in St Denys
What’s the nearest station to St Denys?
St Denys station, in St Denys itself.
Could you cook in Riverside Park?
Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.
Who serves?
We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.
Do we need to provide electricity?
No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.
What do people get?
Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.
Will people get crackling?
Of course: the skin turns to crackling and everyone gets some.
Is it just pork?
Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Is all of Southampton covered?
We cover Southampton and the rest of London and the South East. Send us the address for a quote.
Is a hog roast right for your event?
Full catering or machine hire? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. For bigger events, catering is generally the easier choice. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.
