Organising for someone else?

Hog roast hire in Street End, carved to order

A hog roast is one of the simplest ways to feed a crowd in Street End: one roast, slow-cooked for hours, carved in front of everyone. We bring the roaster, the cover and the serving kit, and we serve and tidy up afterwards. We serve rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and crackling, and we are frequently booked for staff days and open days and gatherings after a funeral.

Somewhere as small as Street End, a field, yard or garden is frequently the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

Your questions about a hog roast in Street End

Do you come out to small places like Street End?

No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

How far is Street End from London?

Roughly 54 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

Outside, always. Serving indoors is typically fine if the venue is happy.

What should we sort out beforehand?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

Do you travel across Kent?

Kent is part of our area. Contact us for a price.

What’s the price?

Numbers, menu and travel decide the price. Send us the details and we will quote.

What space does the roaster need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, and a way to wheel everything in. Send us a photo if you are unsure.

Will there be enough to go round?

Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

About the food

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, so it stays hot and juicy.

Bringing a hog roast to Street End

Street End is about 2 miles south of Canterbury, in Kent. We cover Street End and its neighbours for events. We cover all 922 towns and villages in Kent, from the larger towns to small villages.

If guests are travelling by rail, Canterbury East station, about 2.1 miles north, is the nearest station. For a fundraiser at a school like Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, the roaster can cook on a pitch agreed with the school. Street End is within about 7 miles of the Kent Downs National Landscape, and some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles on site. Check your venue’s rules on outside caterers.

We bring hog roasts to events all over the CT4 postcode area and the streets around it. Looking after everyone

Some guests won’t eat pork, so plan an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Find out who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs

Slow roasting needs attention, which is our job, not yours. You can get on with your event.

Salads, coleslaw and potatoes make it a full meal.

Perfect for your event in Street End

You can taste the hours of roasting: the meat is tender and the crackling crisp, carved fresh for every roll.

Lots of different events suit a hog roast. Here are some of the most popular:

  • Gatherings after a funeral
  • Club events and presentations
  • Village fêtes and school fairs
  • Work summer parties

For a christening or gathering after a service at a church such as Church of St Mary, the roaster can be set up at a hall or home nearby.

Questions to ask before you book

  • If the price includes VAT
  • The full menu and the sides
  • The space, cover and access they need
  • Whether travel is included

Choosing a hog roast caterer

Should I cook it myself?

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Where the roaster can go in Street End

What happens on the day

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. In Street End, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Name a contact for the day

Ask for a quote

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.
