Hog roast hire for Westwell

About our hog roast hire in Westwell

In Westwell, a hog roast is an easy way to feed a lot of people: one roast, slow-cooked for hours, carved in front of everyone. Everything comes with us, and our staff serve and clear. Popular choices include salads, hog roast rolls and coleslaw, and we’re regularly asked to cater garden parties and barbecues and christmas fairs.

In a rural place like Westwell, roast pork in a field is hard to beat. Tell us about gates, tracks and the ground. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

How we price a hog roast

There’s no fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Numbers
  • Crockery choices
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Getting an accurate quote

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • An estimate of numbers
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Anything the venue has asked for

A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so you can compare caterers fairly. Fill in our quote form.

About the food

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

For vegans, there’s a vegan burger or sausage in a roll, so everyone has something hot.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

Before you choose a spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • A marquee, hall or barn as a wet-weather plan
  • Space away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Access for our equipment, without steps

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

Your questions about a hog roast in Westwell

Can you cater after a service at Church of St Mary?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Send us the address.

What’s the nearest station to Westwell?

Charing station, about 2.6 miles north-west of the centre.

Do you provide china?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We work back from when you want to eat, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.

Can you cater in Westwell?

Yes, Westwell is in our area. Send us the address and we will check the date.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear up after service, and leave the area tidy.

What do people get?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

Do you cook it or do we?

We offer full catering and DIY machine hire. Your quote will set out what’s included.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Some guests won’t eat pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Find out who does not eat pork, and order an alternative for them
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them

We’ll agree a contact for the day, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

Prefer to cook yourself? Ask about DIY machine hire.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is typically easier.

Organising for someone else?

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

For venues and planners, we are happy to work alongside your team.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue, a hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone, instead of food coming off the grill in batches. See our guide to hog roast or barbecue. Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

Why Westwell hosts choose us

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • No surprises: everything in writing

See how we price and the cost guide.

How it works

The roaster is gas-fired, so we don’t need mains power to cook, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. Evenings in Westwell stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:00pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Let us know about tight access
