Why choose a hog roast in Wolvercote?

A hog roast has one downside: it’s pork. That’s why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option for anyone who doesn’t eat it. A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds plenty of people. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Why book our hog roast in Wolvercote

  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated

In Wolvercote, a hog roast is an easy way to feed a lot of people: one roast, slow-cooked for hours, carved in front of everyone. Everything comes with us, and we serve and tidy up afterwards. Typical bookings include christmas fairs and gatherings after a funeral, serving rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and crackling.

In a hamlet or village like Wolvercote, a farmyard or a neighbour’s field can make a good cooking spot. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We arrive hours ahead, set up, roast, carve and serve, then clear up.

What affects the price in Wolvercote

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • How easy it is to reach the spot
  • Crockery choices
  • How many people are eating
  • Which meats and sides you choose

Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

What we need to know

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • Any venue rules
  • Rough numbers
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Which meats and sides you’d like

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Use our quote form.

What’s the nearest station to Wolvercote?

The closest is Oxford Parkway station, roughly 1.5 miles away.

Is crockery included?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Where does the hog roast go?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. A picture helps.

How much will it be?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we’re on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.

Do we need our own staff?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

The process

The roaster is gas-fired, so cooking does not depend on mains power. In Wolvercote, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, we need light by the roaster and the serving table.

  1. First, you send us your date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours before serving and start the roast under cover.
  4. Our chef carves to order and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day
