Party hog roast in Aldington

Should I cook it myself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

How our party hog roast works in Aldington

A hog roast works for street parties as well, once the road closure or permission is in place. We serve hog roast rolls, crackling and a vegan burger or sausage, and we are regularly asked to cater getting-engaged parties and big birthday parties.

A country party near Aldington is perfect for a hog roast: roasted all afternoon and carved on the lawn. Plan shelter in case it rains. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to doing it all yourself, a catered hog roast gives you the day back. For larger numbers, a hog roast is generally good value, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

Organising for someone else?

Marquee suppliers typically set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

Organisers may ask for documents such as a risk assessment or gas safety information. Tell us what you need and we will confirm what we can provide.

Questions from Aldington

Can you do a hog roast in Poulton Wood?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Is Aldington close to London?

Roughly 53 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Who serves?

We carve and serve for you, then clear the serving area afterwards.

Do you bring a gazebo?

Not for the cooking, but plan somewhere dry for guests.

Does the roaster have to be outside?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. Serving inside is frequently possible, with the venue’s agreement.

When should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But do ask even at short notice: use our quote form.

Can you roast in the rain?

We roast under cover, so the food isn’t affected. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

What do you need from us on the day?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

Step by step

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. At midsummer, it is light in Aldington until about 9:15pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:00pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Show us the garden or drive.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. On the day, we roast slowly under cover.
  4. Our staff serve rolls and sides.
  5. We clear up so you don’t have to.

Preparing for the day

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Let us know about tight access

Before you choose a spot

A good cooking spot makes the day run smoothly. Ideally:

  • A word with the neighbours
  • A side gate or passage wide enough to wheel the equipment
  • A level spot in the garden, on the patio or drive

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, cutting through the richness of the pork.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Salads, new potatoes, coleslaw and roast or jacket potatoes turn rolls into a full meal, especially at a sit-down event.

Looking after everyone

Some guests won’t eat pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Think about children’s portions
  • Keep the vegetarian option labelled
  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed

If the party runs late, the roast can wait a little, so just let us know.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

  • Slow-roasted on site for hours, outdoors at your event
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
