Party hog roast in Amberley, carved to order

A party at home needs a little planning for the roaster: level ground outdoors, clear of the house and fences. We’ll check it with you. We serve jacket potatoes, crackling and hog roast rolls, and we’re frequently booked for summer parties in the garden and retirement celebrations.

Country parties near Amberley suit a hog roast: roasted all afternoon and carved on the lawn. Plan shelter in case it rains. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Tips:

  • Collect dietary needs when guests reply
  • Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
  • Let us know roughly how many children
  • Tell us how many vegetarians and vegans to expect

Clear the route to the garden before we arrive, so we can wheel the equipment in.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

How we price a hog roast for your party

The price comes down to:

  • Numbers
  • The date and time of year
  • Whether you want china
  • Time on site

Compare like for like: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What to tell us

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • The venue or postcode
  • Your date and serving time

A quote from us sets out the menu, timings, staffing and what’s included, so it is easy to compare like for like. Use our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

Planning on behalf of a committee? One clear contact makes everything easier, particularly when timings shift.

For events on land you do not own, such as a park or field, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with a restaurant booking, you keep the party at home, with room for everyone. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

What you get with us

  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • No surprises: everything in writing

Amberley parties: what to know

Amberley is about 7 miles north of Littlehampton, in West Sussex. We take a hog roast for your party to gardens, car parks, yards and venues around Amberley and the surrounding area. We cater all 371 towns and villages across West Sussex. You can also see our page for Brighton, about 18 miles away.

Nearby historic houses include Parham House (1.9 miles east) and Bignor Roman Villa (2.9 miles west). Grand settings like these often have strict rules on caterers, so for most parties a garden or hired hall is simpler. Thinking of a hog roast in Parham Park? Cooking in a park needs the owner’s permission, usually the council’s, and many parks do not allow it. Amberley is within about a mile of the South Downs National Park, so many gardens around here have a great outlook.

We cover parties in every part of BN18. We can cater a party on streets such as School Road, Turnpike Road and Hog Lane, as long as there’s somewhere outside to cook. Nearby, we also cater parties in Cross Gate (1 mile north-east), Bury (1 mile west), Rackham (1 mile east), Watersfield (2 miles north-west) and West Burton (2 miles west). Larger places within reach include Horsham (14 miles north-east), Worthing (8 miles south-east), Bognor Regis (10 miles south-west), Chichester (12 miles south-west), Littlehampton (7 miles south) and Shoreham-by-Sea (13 miles south-east).

Other landmarks nearby include Amberley Castle (less than half a mile west) and Arundel and District Hospital (3.9 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Amberley Wild Brooks and Bignor Hill.

  • Local schools include Dorset House School (0.9 miles west)

What comes off the roaster

Roast pork

Our chef carves the pork as it is needed, so it stays hot and juicy right to the last roll.

Crackling

Good crackling needs time and heat, which is exactly what a slow hog roast gives it.

The process

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Evening parties in Amberley need a little planning: it is light until about 9:20pm in June but only about 7:05pm in late September. Lights by the food keep the party going.

  1. Send a picture of where the roaster could go.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. On the day, we roast slowly under cover.
  4. Our staff serve rolls and sides.
  5. We leave the garden tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Amberley: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Amberley?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Could you cook in Parham Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. Halal meat is not something we offer.

Do you do DIY hire for parties?

If you are happy to roast and carve, yes. Most people prefer us to cook so they can enjoy the party.

How far ahead should we book?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

Do you serve the food?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, then clear the serving area afterwards.

Do you bring a gazebo?

Not for the cooking, but a gazebo or indoor space for guests is a good backup.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
