Why choose a hog roast in Charndon?
Next to doing it all yourself, a catered hog roast gives you the day back. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.
Why Charndon hosts choose us
- No surprises: everything in writing
- Cooked on the day, low and slow
- Planned to your running order
- Staff to serve, so you do not have to

Organising for someone else?
For venues and planners, we can fit around your other suppliers.
If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
How it works
When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. In Charndon, late May sunsets come at about 9:00pm and midsummer ones at about 9:25pm, so most summer parties eat in daylight. Winter parties, dark by about 3:55pm, need lights by the roaster.
- You tell us the date, your address, rough numbers and when you’d like to eat.
- You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
- On the day we arrive hours ahead and start the roast under cover.
- When it’s time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
- We clear up and pack away.
How to prepare
- Think about shelter for your guests
- Have a level outdoor spot ready
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand

Why choose party hog roast in Charndon?
There’s very little washing up, since we provide plates and tidy up.
Here’s what people in Charndon most frequently book a hog roast for:
- Anniversary parties
- Big birthday parties
- Christenings
- Big family get-togethers
Historic houses near Charndon include Claydon House (3 miles east). If you’re hiring a historic venue for a big birthday, check its rules on outside caterers first.
What your quote should include
- When payments are due and what happens if plans change
- Which meats, sides and extras are included
- Where the roaster goes and what it needs
- If the price includes VAT
Should I cook it myself?
Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but nothing beats hot pork and crackling carved in front of you.
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
Planning for dietary needs
Some guests will not eat pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:
- Let us know roughly how many children
- Request gluten-free rolls
- Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
- Add a dietary question to the invite
A cooked roast holds for a while, so tell us if timings change.
Rotisserie chicken is popular at family parties.
About the food
Stuffing and apple sauce
Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness go with the pork perfectly. Note that stuffing usually contains gluten.
Salads, potatoes and coleslaw
Crunchy coleslaw suits roast pork, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.
Common questions in Charndon
Is Charndon too small for a hog roast?
No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.
We’re gathering after a service at Church of St Michael: can you cater?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Send us the address.
When should we book?
Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.
How do you work out quantities?
Quantities are based on your numbers, and we’ll talk it through when we quote.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.
Can you do gluten-free?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.
How much will it be?
Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your party for a quote.
What about guests who don’t eat pork?
We can add lamb or chicken, plus halloumi skewers for vegetarians and a vegan burger or sausage. We do not provide halal meat.
Space, access and the venue
Most outdoor spaces can work with a little planning. Here’s what helps:
- A wet-weather plan for guests
- Space away from the house, fences, sheds and trees
- Space for our vehicle near the drive
