Party hog roast in Cheam, slow-roasted on site

A hog roast makes a party at home feel special. We roast on site in Cheam, then carve at the time you choose, so you can enjoy your own party. We’re often asked to cater getting-engaged parties and milestone birthdays, with crackling, jacket potatoes and hog roast rolls.

Throwing a party in Cheam? A hog roast keeps you out of the kitchen, at home or a hall with a garden. A long roast means a word with the neighbours. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

As a London location, Cheam is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a restaurant booking, you keep the party at home, with room for everyone. UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. Every event gets its own quote, with everything listed.

Why us?

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • All the equipment comes with us
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Served at the time you choose

Take a look at how we price or our hog roast cost guide.

The process

Slow roasting is the whole point: the meat cooks gently until it is tender while the skin turns into crackling. It rests for a short while before carving. Sunset in Cheam is about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so most summer parties eat in daylight. After about 3:55pm in December, we need light to carve.

  1. Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. We arrive in good time and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve at the agreed time.
  5. Afterwards we tidy up the serving area.

Getting ready for the day

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

Crackling

Crackling takes hours to get right, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

Roast pork

Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and our chef carves it to order.

Cheam parties: what to know

Cheam is about 1 mile south-west of Sutton, in Greater London. We cover Cheam and its neighbours for parties. We cover 764 places across Greater London, from the larger towns to small villages. Our bookings stretch from Cheam to London (12 miles away).

Nearby historic houses include Nonsuch Mansion (1 mile north-west) and Fitznells Manor (1.8 miles west). If you are hiring a historic venue for a big birthday, check its rules on outside caterers first. If guests are coming by rail, the closest railway station is Cheam station, roughly 0.6 miles north of the centre. Cheam is within about 8 miles of the Surrey Hills National Landscape, so many gardens around here have a great outlook.

For parties in SM2, SM3 and SM1, we just need to know where the roaster can cook and roughly how many guests. We can cater a party on streets such as Wray Road, York Road and The Avenue, as long as there’s somewhere outside to cook. If your venue is just outside Cheam, we also cover Belmont (1 mile south-east), Cuddington (1 mile north-west), North Looe (1 mile south-west), North Cheam (2 miles north) and Nork (2 miles south). How we price a hog roast for your party

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • The number of people
  • Season and day of the week
  • Crockery choices
  • Distance from us

Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.

What we need to know

To get the best quote, send us:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Rough numbers

To get a quote, just send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Questions from Cheam

Could you cook in Howell Hill?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We plan the timings from when you want to eat.

Is our garden suitable?

Most gardens can work, and a way to wheel the equipment through. Send us a photo.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.

What about coeliacs?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.

Is crockery included?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

Rolls and stuffing typically contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. Other tips:

  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Add a dietary question to the invite
  • Keep the vegetarian option labelled
  • Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed

Make sure the gate or side passage is open when we arrive, so we can wheel the equipment in.

Sides turn rolls into a proper party meal.

Organising for someone else?

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it’s worth asking first. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
