Is a hog roast right for your party?

Why book with us

  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Fresh carving at the serving station

Party hog roast in Cookham, slow-roasted on site

Plan where the roaster will go: level ground outdoors, clear of the house and fences. We’ll help you choose. On the menu are crackling, rotisserie chicken and hog roast rolls, and we are often booked for retirement parties and naming ceremonies.

In a place like Cookham, a party at home is usually the easiest option. Tell us about the drive and the garden, and we’ll do the rest. We bring the people to serve and clear up, so nobody in your party has to serve or tidying up afterwards.

Should I cook it myself?

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

How the day works

Rain doesn’t stop the roast, because we cook under cover. Your guests will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. Evening parties in Cookham need a little planning: it’s light until about 9:25pm in June but only about 7:05pm in late September. A string of lights over the serving table works wonders.

  1. Tell us about your party: date, address and numbers.
  2. We check the space and send a price.
  3. We arrive early and get the roast going.
  4. At food time, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We clear the serving area and go.

How to prepare

  • Name a contact for the day
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains
  • Let us know about tight access

Cookham questions

How far is Cookham from London?

Roughly 28 miles from the centre of London.

Which station is closest to Cookham?

Cookham has its own station: Cookham station.

What happens after service?

We pack everything away after service, so you are not left with the mess.

Can we hire the hog roast machine for our party?

You can hire the machine. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

How big a hog will we need?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so a good estimate matters. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

What if it rains?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

What do people get?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.

Organising for someone else?

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We work to the site’s rules.

Looking after everyone

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork for the alternatives
  • Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
  • Think about children’s portions
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten

On the day, we arrive hours before the party starts, so the smell is the first thing guests notice.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

How we price a hog roast for your party

We do not use a fixed price list, since every event is different. The main factors are:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • Crockery choices
  • The serving time and how long we are on site
  • Menu choices and extras

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

What we need to know

Good details mean a good quote. Useful details:

  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Any venue rules
  • An estimate of numbers
  • The venue or postcode

The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A photo of the cooking area helps. Fill in our quote form.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
