About our party hog roast in Cores End
In Cores End, a hog roast is a favourite for birthdays and garden parties: one roast, enough for a crowd. We serve and tidy up. Popular choices include jacket potatoes, a vegan burger or sausage and crackling, and we’re regularly asked to cater retirement celebrations and ruby, golden and diamond anniversaries.
In a small place like Cores End, a party in the garden or a nearby field is frequently the plan. Let us know about access, and we will handle the rest. Our chef carves in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

What comes off the roaster
Roast pork
Hours of slow roasting make the pork soft and full of flavour, and our chef carves it to order.
Rotisserie chicken
Golden rotisserie chicken goes into rolls or onto plates alongside the pork.
Planning the cooking spot
It is worth planning the cooking area in advance. The ideal spot has:
- A step-free way into the garden
- A heads-up for next door
- A wet-weather plan for guests
If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Full catering or machine hire?
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Diets, allergies and alternatives
Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Halal is not offered, so arrange it separately if needed
- Check the allergen list, as stuffing usually contains gluten
- Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
We set up where we agreed and stay out of the way, so the party carries on around us.
China crockery is available on request, at extra cost.
Cores End questions
We’re gathering after a service at Cores End United Reformed Church: can you cater?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.
Which station is closest to Cores End?
Cores End has its own station: Bourne End station.
Can we cook it ourselves?
Yes, DIY machine hire is available. We will explain what’s supplied and how it works.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and a cooked roast can be held for a while if things run late.
What’s the price?
Every booking is quoted individually, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Ask us for a quote.
What about guests who don’t eat pork?
There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. We don’t offer halal meat.
Do you offer gluten-free rolls?
We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. You’ll get allergen details for everything.
How big a hog will we need?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so tell us your best estimate. The quote sets it out.
The process
Serving is straightforward: the chef carves and the team serves, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Sunset in Cores End is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June, so an early-evening carve is usually in daylight. After about 3:55pm in December, we need light to carve.
- It starts with the date, the address and a rough guest list.
- You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
- We arrive in good time and start roasting.
- We carve and serve at the agreed time.
- We pack away and leave the garden tidy.
How to prepare

Why book with us
- Serving and clearing done for you

How we price a hog roast for your party
We do not use a fixed price list, because every party is different. What matters most:
- Menu choices and extras
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- The journey to the venue
- The number of people
Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Tell us the exact address so the quote is accurate.
