- Reunions

- 18th, 21st, 40th, 50th and 60th birthdays
A christening at The Parish Church of St George followed by a hog roast at home is a simple, popular plan.
Questions to ask before booking
- The menu, including sides and any extras
- Whether travel is included
- What crockery is supplied
- Where the roaster goes and what it needs
What a hog roast costs
A few things make the biggest difference to the price:
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
- How long the roast and service take
- Access to the cooking area
- Which meats and sides you choose
UK price guides vary widely: roughly £10 a head for a simple roll, rising past £20 with more included. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.
Getting an accurate quote
When you contact us, it helps to include:
- The venue or postcode
- Rough numbers
- Your menu choices
- Any venue rules
When you are weighing up caterers, ask each one exactly what’s included. We spell it out in ours. To get yours, fill in our quote form.
Should I cook it myself?
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.
Is a hog roast right for your party?
Next to ordering takeaway, a hog roast is part of the party, not just the food. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.
Why us?
- Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
- All the equipment comes with us
- Fresh carving at the serving station
- Served at the time you choose

Questions from Crowhurst
Can you cater after a service at The Parish Church of St George?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.
Do you come out to small places like Crowhurst?
No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
What’s included?
Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.
Do you leave the area tidy?
We clear the serving area and pack away, leaving the spot as we found it.
Do you bring a gazebo?
We bring cover for the roaster; plan shelter for guests in bad weather.
Is mains power needed?
No, the roast is cooked on gas. Let us know what’s on site.
How far ahead should we book?
Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.
Can you do gluten-free?
Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing typically contains gluten, so check the allergen information.
How it works
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, timed so it’s ready when you want to eat. Evening parties in Crowhurst need a little planning: daylight lasts until about 9:15pm at midsummer, but by late September it’s around 7:00pm. Lights by the food keep the party going.
- Tell us about your party: date, address and numbers.
- We check the space and send a price.
- We set up hours ahead.
- We carve and serve at food time.
- We clear the serving area and go.
Before we arrive
- Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
- Have a covered area for eating in case of rain
- Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
How to get a price
We need a few details to quote: the date and serving time, the venue or TN33 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Fill in our quote form.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.
Rotisserie chicken
Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and children normally like it too.

For planners, venues and organisers
Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.
Diets, allergies and alternatives
Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:
- Collect dietary needs when guests reply
- Check the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten
- Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
- Keep the vegetarian option labelled
On the day, we arrive hours before the party starts, so the smell is the first thing guests notice.
Ask about china for a sit-down party, at extra cost.
