Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, so halloumi and vegetable skewers make sure they’re not left with just salad.

Crackling

Good crackling needs time and heat, and a whole hog roasted slowly gets it just right.

Party hog roast near Eel Pie Island

If you’d rather cook yourself, DIY machine hire is an option. Most hosts prefer us to do it, and spend time with their guests. For retirement parties and neighbourhood parties, we’ll put together a menu of a vegan burger or sausage, jacket potatoes and coleslaw.

Throwing a party in Eel Pie Island? A hog roast keeps you out of the kitchen, at home or a hall with a garden. Warn the neighbours: it roasts for hours. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Catered or do it yourself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Your questions about a hog roast for your party in Eel Pie Island

Can you cater after a service at St Mary's Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

What’s the nearest station to Eel Pie Island?

Twickenham station, in Eel Pie Island itself.

Do you provide china?

Plates are included. China is available at an extra cost.

Can you do a hog roast in our back garden?

Describe the space and the way in, and we’ll tell you if it works.

Where does the hog roast go?

A flat, open spot outside, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a photo if you’re unsure.

Who serves?

Our chef carves and our staff serve, and we clear up when service is finished.

Will there be enough to go round?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we will talk it through when we quote.

What’s included?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

How the day works

Here’s how the day usually runs: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you are ready. At midsummer, it is light in Eel Pie Island until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:05pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check the date and the garden or drive, then send a quote.
  3. We set up early and get the hog roasting.
  4. When it’s time to eat, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We clear up and pack away.

What a hog roast costs

Your quote depends on:

  • How many people are eating
  • Site access
  • Menu choices and extras
  • Travel to Eel Pie Island

Distance is part of the price: travel is included in your quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

What we need to know

Good details mean a good quote. Please include:

  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Your menu choices
  • Dietary requirements
  • Where the event is

Send us the date, the address or TW1 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We will confirm availability and send a price. Fill in our quote form.

For planners, venues and organisers

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

For workplace bookings, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

What the cooking area needs

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Flat ground in the garden or on the drive
  • Space away from the house, fences, sheds and trees
  • A heads-up for next door

As a London location, Eel Pie Island is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.
