Party hog roast in New Zealand, carved to order
A party at home needs a little planning for the roaster: a level spot away from the house and trees, under cover. We will help you choose. Popular choices include apple sauce, crackling and rotisserie chicken, and typical bookings are for summer parties in the garden and christenings and naming days.
A country party near New Zealand is perfect for a hog roast: roasted all afternoon and carved on the lawn. Plan shelter in case it rains. Everything we need to roast, carve and serve comes with us, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

DIY versus a catered hog roast
If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.
A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.
Looking after everyone
We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:
- Request gluten-free rolls
- Think about children’s portions
- Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
- Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
Our chef carves and our staff serve at the agreed time, then tidy up.
Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.
How it works
Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. Autumn parties in New Zealand get dark early: about 7:05pm by late September and 3:55pm by December. Plan lights for the path and the food.

What affects the price in New Zealand
Every booking is priced individually, based on a few main things:
- Crockery choices
- The number of people
- The journey to the venue
- The serving time and how long we’re on site
Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
What to tell us
When you enquire, it helps to include:
- Dietary requirements
- What the outdoor space is like
- The date and when you’d like to eat
- Your menu choices
When you’re weighing up caterers, check what each quote actually includes. Ours lists it clearly. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.
Before you choose a spot
Most gardens, car parks, yards and fields work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:
- A side gate or passage wide enough to wheel the equipment
- Space for our vehicle near the drive
- Clearance from walls, fences and overhanging branches
Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

New Zealand questions
Do you cater at venues in the Chilterns National Landscape?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.
Is New Zealand close to London?
Roughly 38 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
Can you do gluten-free?
We can provide gluten-free rolls if you ask. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.
What comes with the hog roast?
Roast pork carved into soft rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Extras include lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers, a vegan option, salads and potatoes.
Is crockery included?
We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.
Do you bring a gazebo?
Not for the cooking, but plan somewhere dry for guests.
Can you work around our timings?
Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll fit around changes.
Can you roast in the rain?
We cook under a gazebo, so rain is not a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.
Why choose a hog roast in New Zealand?
Hire the machine or book catering? DIY hire works for relaxed get-togethers; catering suits bigger parties. When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.
Why us?
- Choices for people who do not eat pork
- Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
- Crackling for everyone who wants it
- Sides to make it a full meal

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.
