Party hog roast in Shalfleet, carved to order
Rolls are easy for party guests to eat standing up, and pork rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling are just that. Alternatives cover anyone who doesn’t eat pork. Country parties near Shalfleet suit a hog roast: slow-roasted and eaten outside. Have a covered area for guests in wet weather. We plan the timings around your day, because the roast has to start hours before you eat.

Planning the cooking spot
The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:
- Space away from the house, fences, sheds and trees
- Somewhere for us to park nearby
- Access for the roaster through a gate or passage
Shalfleet is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

Organising for someone else?
Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.
Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.
Allergies and dietary needs
Tell us about dietary needs early and we’ll help. Tips:
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
- Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
- Let us know roughly how many children
- Ask about allergies on the invitation
Our chef carves and our staff serve at the agreed time, then clear up the serving area.
Add coleslaw, salads and jacket potatoes to make it a full meal.

A hog roast or other catering?
Next to a party buffet, hot carved pork feels more special, and nothing sits out all afternoon. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Questions from Shalfleet
Can you cater after a service at Church of St. Michael the Archangel?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is normally elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.
Do you come out to small places like Shalfleet?
No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Do we need a marquee for a party hog roast?
We cover the cooking area, but a gazebo or indoor space for guests is a good backup.
Can you do a hog roast in our back garden?
Tell us about the garden and the access, and we will tell you if it works.
How big a hog will we need?
The roast is chosen to suit how many you are feeding, so a good estimate matters. The quote sets it out.
Does the roaster have to be outside?
Outside, always. The food can be carried in and served indoors where the venue allows.
Do you bring plates?
We bring plates as standard. If you’d like china, ask and we’ll add it to the quote.
Can we hire the hog roast machine for our party?
Yes, DIY machine hire is available. We’ll talk you through it when we quote.
How it works
Here’s how the day normally runs: we arrive, set up under cover and start roasting, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and our chef carves it when you’re ready. At midsummer, it’s light in Shalfleet until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.
- Tell us about your party: date, address and numbers.
- We check the garden or drive and quote.
- We arrive early and get the roast going.
- At food time, the chef carves and we serve.

Getting ready for the day
