A hog roast near Whitechapel

Party hog roast in Whitechapel, carved to order

For a relaxed party, you can hire the machine and cook it yourself. Most hosts prefer us to do it, and spend time with their guests. On the menu are apple sauce, crackling and hog roast rolls, and we are regularly asked to cater naming ceremonies and anniversary parties.

In Whitechapel, a party at home is the usual choice, and access is the question. If there is no side gate, tell us about rear access or a front garden. A photo helps. Our staff serve and clear, so nobody in your party has to serve.

Step by step

Serving is straightforward: the chef carves and the team serves, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. Autumn parties in Whitechapel get dark early: about 7:05pm by late September and 3:55pm by December. Plan lights for the path and the food.

  1. Start with the date, the address and roughly how many.
  2. We check the garden or drive and quote.
  3. We arrive early and get the roast going.
  4. At food time, the chef carves and we serve.
  5. We tidy up and pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot

Prices and what affects them

Your quote depends on:

  • Distance from us
  • The number of people
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Site access

Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Getting an accurate quote

Here’s what we’ll ask:

  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Where the event is
  • Dietary requirements
  • An estimate of numbers

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your party: send us your details through our quote form.

Rotisserie chicken

Golden rotisserie chicken can be served in a roll or on a plate.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with cooking for everyone yourself, you get to enjoy the party. Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

What you get with us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Timed around your day
  • All the equipment comes with us

Read our prices page and what a hog roast costs.

Looking after everyone

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Let us know roughly how many children
  • Find out who doesn’t eat pork for the alternatives
  • Check the allergen list, as stuffing generally contains gluten
  • Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food

At food time, we carve and serve, then tidy up.

Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed.

For planners, venues and organisers

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

Venues frequently have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

Planning the cooking spot

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, so a few things are worth checking:

  • A spot well away from the house
  • Somewhere for us to park nearby
  • A level patio, lawn or driveway

Whitechapel is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Questions from Whitechapel

We are gathering after a service at St Mary Matfelon: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Which station is closest to Whitechapel?

The closest is Whitechapel station, roughly 0.5 miles away.

Is our garden suitable?

Frequently, yes, if there’s a level spot away from the house and trees, given access for the equipment. A picture helps.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Do you come to Whitechapel?

We do. Tell us the venue or postcode and we’ll confirm availability.

Do we need cover?

The roaster has its own cover; guests will want somewhere dry to eat if it rains.

How much room do you need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will confirm the space with your quote.

Do you bring plates?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.
