Rotisserie chicken

Golden rotisserie chicken goes into rolls or onto plates.

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Coleslaw is the natural partner for a pork roll, and salads and new potatoes work well on a plate.

A hog roast works for street parties as well, with the right permissions. We’re frequently asked to cater ruby, golden and diamond anniversaries and neighbourhood parties, serving coleslaw, a vegan burger or sausage and hog roast rolls.

In a small place like Yarbridge, a party in the garden or a nearby field is frequently the plan. Let us know about access, and we will plan the route. Our staff serve and clear, so you are not left handing out rolls or tidying up afterwards.

Yarbridge: your questions answered

Can you cater after a service at St. Mary's Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is generally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Can you roast near the sea around Yarbridge?

Yes. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.

What if it rains?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

How long does the roast need?

It depends on the size of the hog and the weather, but it is several hours. We will confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Is mains power needed?

The roaster runs on gas, so we don’t need mains power to cook. Power can help with lighting after dark.

What’s included?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Your quote lists any sides and extras.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll check it with you before booking.

Do you cover Yarbridge?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Yarbridge and the Isle of Wight. Tell us the venue and we’ll quote.

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee suppliers usually set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.

What affects the price in Yarbridge

Your quote depends on:

  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Time on site
  • Numbers
  • Season and day of the week

Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so we list each one in the quote. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

For a quick, accurate price, tell us:

  • Where the event is
  • Any dietary needs or allergies

Hosting a hog roast party in Yarbridge

Yarbridge is about 2 miles north-east of Sandown, in the Isle of Wight. We are happy to travel to Yarbridge for parties and the places nearby. We bring hog roasts to 125 places across the Isle of Wight. Our nearest city page is Southampton, about 20 miles away.

Historic houses near Yarbridge include Morton Manor (within half a mile west) and Yaverland Manor (0.7 miles south-east). For most parties, a garden or hall is easier than a historic venue with strict catering rules. For guests coming by train, the closest railway station is Brading station, roughly 0.5 miles north-east of the centre. Near the coast, within about a mile, gardens can catch the wind, so we plan a sheltered spot.

Wherever your party is in PO36, we can bring the roaster to you. Your party could be at a house on New Road, Morton Road and Church Lane, wherever there’s an outdoor spot for the roaster. Main roads around Yarbridge include the A3055, so getting the roaster to your party is simple. We also bring hog roasts to parties in Morton (1 mile south-west), Brading (1 mile north), Adgestone (1 mile west), Yaverland (1 mile south-east) and Sandown (2 miles south-west). Should I cook it myself?

If you are confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Step by step

From setting up to the last roll, we look after the food, so you can get on with your party. At midsummer, it is light in Yarbridge until about 9:20pm, which gives a garden party a long evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. Send us your party date, address, numbers and serving time.
  2. You get a check on the date and the cooking spot, and a quote.
  3. On the day we arrive hours ahead and start the roast under cover.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve when you are ready.
  5. We clear up and pack away.

Preparing for the day

  • Check there is a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains

Planning help

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue, no one gets stuck at the grill, and everyone eats together. Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, and the quote reflects that.

Why Yarbridge hosts choose us

  • Planned to your running order
  • Our staff serve and clear
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit

Read our pricing or the cost guide.

Space, access and the venue

It is worth planning the cooking area in advance. We look for:

  • Somewhere for us to park nearby
  • A gazebo, marquee or room indoors for guests if it rains
  • Flat ground in the garden or on the drive

Yarbridge is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Planning for dietary needs

We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:

  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans
  • Ask us to label vegetarian and vegan food
  • Let us know roughly how many children
  • Count non-pork eaters so we can bring chicken or a vegetarian option

Warn the neighbours: roasting takes hours and the smell travels, and they may ask for a roll.

Rotisserie chicken is popular at family parties.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
