FAQs for Brighthampton
We’re gathering after a service at St Giles' Church: can you cater?
Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is normally elsewhere. Send us the address.
Is Brighthampton close to London?
Roughly 60 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.
What’s included?
The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
What space does the roaster need?
A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.
Do you provide china?
We supply plates as standard. China is available at an extra cost.
Can you work around our timings?
We’ll be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll adjust.
When should we book?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.
How long does a hog roast take to cook?
Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We work back from your serving time.
About the food
Roast pork
The hog roasts slowly for hours, so the meat is tender and juicy, and it’s carved fresh as people come up.
Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)
Our vegetarian option is halloumi and vegetable skewers: squeaky, salty cheese with colourful veg, in a roll or on a plate.
Planning the cooking spot
A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:
- A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
- Permission for outside catering
- A route to wheel equipment to the spot
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.
On the menu in Brighthampton
- Vegan option (Ve)
- New potatoes
- Salads
- Halloumi skewers (V)
- Spit-roast lamb
- Roast or jacket potatoes
- Stuffing and apple sauce
- Hog roast rolls
- Rotisserie chicken
- Crackling
Full catering or machine hire?
If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.
A hog roast or other catering?
If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. Travel matters for the price: travel is included in your quote. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.
Why us?
- Carved to order by a chef
- Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
- Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
- Salads, potatoes and coleslaw to go with it

The process
The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. In Brighthampton, midsummer sunset is about 9:30pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:10pm, so evening food is frequently carved in daylight in June and July. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting at the carving station.
- Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
- You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
- We confirm the cooking spot and access with the venue.
- We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
- Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.
Preparing for the day
- Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
- Let us know about tight access
- Think about shelter for your guests
