Wedding hog roast near Heart's Delight

A hog roast is made for marquee, barn and garden weddings near Heart's Delight. We cook outside, under cover, and serve inside where the venue allows. For second-day get-togethers and the main wedding meal, we’ll put together a menu of new potatoes, crackling and rotisserie chicken for your guests.

A wedding in a small place like Heart's Delight often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That is where a hog roast shines: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. We plan the timings around your day, working back from when you want to eat, so the food is ready at the right moment.

How it works

We get there well ahead of service, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. The smell generally brings people over long before we carve. At midsummer, sunset in Heart's Delight is about 9:15pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. Sunset is around 8:45pm in late May and 7:00pm in late September.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We check the venue’s rules and the date, then quote.
  3. We agree timings with your venue coordinator.
  4. We roast during the day, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We serve, tidy up and slip away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Pick a flat, open area outside for cooking
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment

Allergies and dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, and gluten-free rolls are available on request. A few more tips:

  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Share the menu with your venue coordinator
  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed

We’ll liaise with your venue coordinator, for access and timings.

Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

For vegetarians, halloumi and vegetable skewers are cooked separately from the meat, a hot, filling option of their own.

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and there’s a piece for everyone who wants it.

Common questions in Heart's Delight

Is Heart's Delight close to London?

Roughly 58 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

Can you cater after a service at Church of St John the Baptist?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you will gather.

Do you serve the food?

We carve and serve for you, then clear the serving area afterwards.

What space does the roaster need?

A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A photo helps.

Do you clear up?

We clear the serving area and pack away, and leave the area tidy.

Can we offer lamb too?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken as a second option.

Will guests be full?

For the main meal, add sides such as salads and potatoes; in the evening, rolls on their own work well.

Can you work around our timings?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

How to compare hog roast caterers

For planners, venues and organisers

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

Should I cook it myself?

Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Some couples have a formal meal and a hog roast in the evening; others have the hog roast as the main event. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
