Book a hog roast in Mursley

Wedding hog roast near Mursley

Evening wedding food has one job: feed hungry dancers. Rolls with roast pork and crackling are just the thing. On the menu are new potatoes, salads and carved roast pork, and we are frequently booked for vow renewals and blessings and weddings in a family garden.

A wedding in a small place like Mursley often means a field, a barn or a family garden. That’s where a hog roast shines: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

The process

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. At midsummer, sunset in Mursley is about 9:25pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, numbers and whether it is the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. You get a check on the date and venue, and a quote.
  3. We agree arrival, cooking spot and serving times with you and your venue.
  4. We roast during the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the agreed time.
  5. We clear away once everyone has eaten.

Before we arrive

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Mursley questions

How far is Mursley from London?

About 44 miles from central London.

What’s the nearest station to Mursley?

The closest is Bletchley station, roughly 4.5 miles away.

How much does a hog roast cost?

It depends on numbers, the menu and how long we are on site. Send us the details and we’ll quote.

Can you roast in the rain?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Can a hog roast be our wedding breakfast?

Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, and our staff serve your guests.

Do you provide china?

Plates come as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

Do you need power or water?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Can we add a second roast?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the hog.

Allergies and dietary needs

Rolls and stuffing generally contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. Other tips:

  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before
  • Stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately

Evening food usually goes out an hour or two after the first dance, timed with you in advance.

Choose sides to make it a full meal.

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:

  • Lighting for evening service
  • Step-free access for our equipment
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

What comes off the roaster

Roast pork

Our chef carves the pork as it is needed, so it stays hot and juicy.

Stuffing and apple sauce

No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, cutting through the richness of the pork.

For planners, venues and organisers

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.

For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you will need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Not just pork: spit-roast lamb, chicken and vegetarian choices
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
