A hog roast near North Leigh

Wedding hog roast near North Leigh

A wedding hog roast can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, then carve at the time you’ve set. Typical bookings include relaxed, low-key weddings and second-day get-togethers, with carved roast pork, halloumi skewers and salads.

Rural weddings around North Leigh have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling, and nothing sits in a hot cabinet.

A closer look at the menu

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, straight from the roaster.

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and we break it up so everyone gets a piece.

Planning the cooking spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Look for:

  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • A serving area close to where guests eat

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

From the roaster

  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Salads
  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Roast or jacket potatoes
  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Crackling
  • New potatoes
  • Vegan option (Ve)

How the day works

The roaster cooks outdoors, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Evening food at a North Leigh wedding frequently goes out just as the light fades: about 9:30pm at midsummer, 9:00pm in late May and 7:10pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.

North Leigh questions

Is North Leigh close to London?

About 62 miles from central London.

We’re gathering after a service at St Mary's Church: can you cater?

Yes, at a home, hall or venue nearby with an outdoor spot for the roaster. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is usually elsewhere. Tell us where you will gather.

What if our venue has its own caterer?

Your venue decides: some welcome outside caterers, others do not. We’ll talk to them about the cooking spot.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we will adjust.

What should we sort out beforehand?

The agreed cooking area, access for our equipment and someone to meet us. We bring everything else.

Do you come to North Leigh?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, North Leigh and the rest of Oxfordshire included. Tell us the venue and we’ll quote.

Do you do evening food?

Yes. We’ll agree a serving time around your running order.

What do people get?

The classic: pork in rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.
