Wedding hog roast for Sarre

About our wedding hog roast in Sarre

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. For evening receptions and marquee weddings, we will put together a menu of carved roast pork, spit-roast lamb and crackling.

Rural weddings around Sarre have a magic of their own, and a whole hog roasting through the afternoon adds to it. Plan a firm route in, especially if it rains. Our staff serve and clear, so you are not left handing out rolls.

FAQs for Sarre

Is Sarre close to London?

About 58 miles from central London.

Which station is closest to Sarre?

Minster station, about 3.5 miles east of the centre.

Do you come to Sarre?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Sarre and Kent. Tell us the venue and we’ll quote.

Can you cater for vegetarians?

The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat is not something we offer.

Can you do gluten-free?

We can supply gluten-free rolls on request. We’ll give you full allergen information for every dish.

Is mains power needed?

Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can often serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, with our staff serving.

Organising for someone else?

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so it is worth asking first. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

If you are organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

Allergies and dietary needs

Not everyone eats pork, so it is worth adding an alternative. Helpful tips:

  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten
  • If any guests need halal food, arrange it separately
  • Confirm final numbers a week or so before

We serve and clear without fuss, and leave you to celebrate.

Lamb alongside the pork gives guests a choice.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

A common mix is a plated meal followed by an evening hog roast; others have the hog roast as the main event. For larger numbers, a hog roast is usually good value, since one roast goes a long way. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

How it works

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your guests, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. Golden-hour photos in Sarre at midsummer come around 9:15pm, so we can time the carving before or after your sunset photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:45pm, and in late September about 7:00pm.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

How to prepare

  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Name a contact for the day
  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

A spoonful of apple sauce and a slice of stuffing turn a pork roll into a hog roast roll, just as they should.

Rotisserie chicken

Rotisserie chicken is there for anyone who’d rather not have pork, and it suits fussy eaters.

What the cooking area needs

The cooking area is the main thing to plan. A quick checklist:

  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
  • Serving inside the marquee or barn if allowed

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

What a hog roast costs

Each booking is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Season and day of the week
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Travel to Sarre

Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The date and when you’d like to eat
  • The address or postcode
  • Your menu choices
  • A photo of the cooking area

Not sure how many to cater for? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, then confirm closer to the date. Use our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
