Wedding hog roast near Shoreham

Your venue and we agree the cooking spot and timings, so on the day everything is in place. Popular choices include halloumi skewers, new potatoes and crackling, and we are often booked for home weddings and anniversary vow renewals.

Near Shoreham, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. The hog is roasted on site at your wedding, low and slow, for hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

What we serve, dish by dish

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Not everyone eats meat, and halloumi skewers give them a proper hot option.

Roast pork

Slow-roasted pork is the heart of the menu: carved thick or thin, as people like it, and served hot.

Planning a wedding hog roast in Shoreham

Shoreham is about 4 miles north of Sevenoaks, in Kent. We cover Shoreham and its neighbours for weddings. We cater all 922 towns and villages in Kent. Our nearest city page is London, about 16 miles away.

Marrying at Church of St Peter and St Paul? A reception in a garden, barn or marquee close by gives the roaster an outdoor spot. Planning photos in Raspberry Hall Park? It is worth checking the park’s rules first. With the Kent Downs National Landscape within about a mile, there are country venues, barns and gardens nearby. Check the cooking spot with the venue.

We bring hog roasts to weddings all over TN14 and the streets around it. That could mean a wedding in a garden on High Street, Boakes Meadow and Church Street or the roads around them, as long as there is somewhere outside to cook. For weddings just outside Shoreham, we cover Badgers Mount (1 mile west), Sepham Heath (1 mile south-west), Twitton (1 mile south), Otford (2 miles south) and Lullingstone (2 miles north). Further out, we also cater in Dartford (8 miles north), Sevenoaks (4 miles south), Royal Tunbridge Wells (14 miles south), Gravesend (11 miles north-east), Tonbridge (10 miles south-east) and Northfleet (10 miles north-east).

A little further out are Sevenoaks Hospital (3.2 miles south) and Otford Heritage Centre (1.9 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Dryhill Nature Reserve.

  • Local pubs include The Old George Inn (less than half a mile south-east)

Allergies and dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so check the allergen list
  • Ask about dietary needs on your RSVP card
  • Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options

Evening food typically goes out an hour or two after the first dance.

Lamb alongside the pork gives guests a choice.

Planning the cooking spot

The right spot for the roaster makes everything easier. Ideally:

  • A level, open cooking spot outside the marquee or barn
  • A route to wheel equipment to the spot
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Step by step

Slow roasting is the whole point: the meat cooks gently until it is tender while the skin crisps into crackling. Then it rests briefly before our chef carves. In Shoreham, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:05pm, so evening food is often carved in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. Tell us whether it’s the wedding breakfast, the evening or both.
  2. We send a quote with the menu and staffing.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We set up and roast for hours.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Working with your venue

Venues often have rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and tell us what they ask for.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

If your venue does its own catering, ask whether outside caterers are allowed for evening food. Some venues charge a fee. Numbers make the biggest difference: the price per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

What you get with us

  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • A clear quote with everything listed

Shoreham questions

Is Shoreham too small for a hog roast?

No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Can you cater after a service at Church of St Peter and St Paul?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is typically served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Will our venue allow a hog roast?

Your venue decides: some welcome outside caterers, others don’t. We will sort the details with them.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We will be as flexible as we can. Give us a contact on the day and we’ll fit around changes.

Will there be enough to go round?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

What do you need from us on the day?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

Do you need power or water?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Can the hog roast be for the evening?

It is one of our most popular wedding bookings. Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling go down well after dancing.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Our chef carves the pork, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling on the side
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Our team serves at your chosen time and clears up afterwards
