About our wedding hog roast in Upper Eddington

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. The hog roasts slowly at your venue through the afternoon, and our chef carves on cue. Popular choices include rotisserie chicken, new potatoes and carved roast pork, and typical bookings are for the day after the wedding and marquee weddings.

Near Upper Eddington, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Our staff serve and clear, so you’re not left handing out rolls.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

A hog roast or other catering?

Some couples have a formal meal and a hog roast in the evening; others make the hog roast the main meal. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

Why book our hog roast in Upper Eddington

  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests

What happens on the day

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. In Upper Eddington, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:10pm, which means an evening hog roast is generally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 4:00pm.

  1. Choose the main meal, the evening food or both.
  2. You get a quote listing menu, staff and plates.
  3. The venue and we agree where the roaster goes.
  4. We arrive early and roast slowly on site.
  5. Our chef carves and the team serves and clears.

Before we arrive

  • Give us a contact number for the day
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Plan somewhere sheltered for people to eat if it rains

How to compare hog roast caterers

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

The biggest factors are:

  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Crockery choices
  • Site access
  • Season and day of the week

A hog roast is frequently good value for a crowd, since one roast goes a long way. Extras, china and longer service add to it.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so tell them a hog roast is coming. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.
