About our wedding hog roast in Vigo Village

A wedding hog roast can be the wedding breakfast, the evening food or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. We serve carved roast pork, salads and halloumi skewers, and typical bookings are for rustic barn receptions and weddings in a family garden.

Near Vigo Village, weddings are often in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen, just level ground and cover. Tell us about lanes, gates and ground conditions. Timings are planned around your wedding, working back from when you want to eat.

Planning for dietary needs

A hog roast is pork, so plan for anyone who does not eat it. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • Request gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Give your coordinator the final menu
  • Collect dietary needs with RSVPs

On your wedding day, the food should look after itself. We arrive hours before serving, roast through the day and carve on cue.

Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in evening photos; tell your venue or marquee supplier.

Planning photos in Trosley Country Park? It is worth checking the park’s rules first. Nearby historic houses include Cobham College (4.4 miles north) and Starkey Castle (4.8 miles north-east). Vigo Village questions

Is Vigo Village close to London?

Roughly 23 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Could you cook in Trosley Country Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first.

Do you bring plates?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Yes. We serve it on plates with salads and potatoes, with china available, and our staff serve your guests.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is normally fine if the venue is happy.

How much does a hog roast cost?

Each event is priced on its own, depending on numbers, menu, timings and travel. Tell us about your wedding for a quote.

Will guests be full?

We’ll plan quantities from your numbers, and we’ll confirm it in writing.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain does not stop the cooking. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

Should I cook it myself?

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Is a hog roast right for your wedding?

Next to a cold buffet, hot rolls carved to order go down much better late at night. Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

Working with your venue

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before you book. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

How we price a hog roast for your wedding

Things that change the price:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • The number of people
  • The journey to the venue

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we’re on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

What we need to know

When you enquire, it helps to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Rough numbers
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
  • The address or postcode

Numbers not final yet? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, and you can confirm nearer the time. Send us your details through our quote form.

Where the roaster can go in Vigo Village

Not sure about the cooking spot? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
