About the food
Stuffing and apple sauce
No hog roast roll is complete without sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, balancing the rich, salty pork.
Spit-roast lamb
Spit-roast lamb cooks slowly like the hog, carved to order at the serving station, frequently with mint sauce.
Wedding hog roast in Wootton, slow-roasted on site
As a main meal, the hog roast is served on plates: roast pork, crackling and a choice of sides, with china available on request. We’re often asked to cater garden weddings at home and marquee weddings, with rotisserie chicken, halloumi skewers and spit-roast lamb.
Rural weddings around Wootton have a magic of their own, and slow-roasted pork carved for guests adds to it. Plan firm ground and a route for our vehicle. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp.

Looking after everyone
We give full allergen information for every dish. To make the most of it:
- Pass numbers for vegetarians and vegans to us
- Count non-pork eaters, so we can add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options
- Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten
- Give your coordinator the final menu
We will be at the venue for most of the day, working quietly in the background.
Salads, new potatoes and roast potatoes make a full wedding breakfast.
Should I cook it myself?
A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.
We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.
Planners, venues and businesses
If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep everyone in the loop.
If you are a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.
Space, access and the venue
Most outdoor spaces can work if a few things are right. Here’s what helps:
- Power for lights in the evening
- A short walk from the serving station to the guests
- Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Wootton questions
What’s the nearest station to Wootton?
Radley station, about 3.4 miles south-east of the centre.
Can you cater after a service at Church of St Peter?
Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is typically elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear the serving area, so you are not left with the mess.
What do you need from us on the day?
A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.
What space does the roaster need?
A flat, open spot outside, and a way to wheel everything in. A photo helps.
Do we need our own staff?
We carve and serve for you, and we clear up when service is finished.
What’s included?
Rolls with roast pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. You can add lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, coleslaw and potatoes.
When do you start roasting?
Hours rather than minutes. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Step by step
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, worked back from your serving time. In Wootton, evening wedding food often coincides with dusk: about 9:25pm at midsummer, 9:00pm in late May and 7:10pm in late September. Festoon lights by the carving station look lovely in the photos.
