How our BBQ catering works in Dulwich Village

Food from a barbecue is best eaten hot off the grill, so we cook and serve through the agreed service time. Give us your serving time and we will work to it. On the menu are beef brisket, beef burgers and pulled pork, and we are regularly asked to cater birthdays and milestone parties and family celebrations.

Around Dulwich Village, most London barbecues are in back gardens, yards, courtyards and car parks. Many terraced houses have no side access, so tell us about a rear gate, a front garden or a yard, and send us a photo. Everything is cooked through properly, with raw and cooked food kept apart.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Ask which items contain gluten
  • Tell us about children’s numbers
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Ask about allergies when guests reply

The barbecue goes where we agreed, so the event carries on around us.

A hog roast and a barbecue together cover every taste.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Site access
  • Crockery choices
  • The journey to the venue
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Midweek and quieter months are frequently easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.

What we need to know

These are the details we need:

  • Any venue rules

Our BBQ planning guide

Why a catered barbecue beats doing it yourself

Instead of a takeaway delivery, the cooking is part of the atmosphere, and the grill becomes a gathering point. The menu makes a big difference to the price: a simple menu costs less than one with brisket and ribs, so we list each item in the quote. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to
  • Burgers, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and more
  • Meat-free choices on every menu
  • An itemised quote

Step by step

Barbecue food is best straight off the grill, so we cook and serve through the agreed time. Slow-cooked meats are ready as soon as service begins, so nobody waits for the first round. By late September, sunset in Dulwich Village is about 7:05pm; in December it’s about 3:55pm. For a late-season barbecue, lunchtime is easiest.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and serving time.
  2. We check availability and the space for the barbecue and send a clear quote.
  3. On the day, we set up on the agreed spot and get the grill hot.
  4. Our chef cooks and our staff serve at the agreed time.
  5. We pack everything away when everyone has eaten.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Pick a spot where smoke blows away from guests

Common questions in Dulwich Village

What’s the nearest station to Dulwich Village?

Dulwich Village has its own station: North Dulwich station.

Could you cook in Dulwich Park?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Is the food cooked safely?

Meat is cooked until it’s steaming hot all the way through, with no pink and juices running clear, in line with Food Standards Agency guidance.

Do you need anything from us?

Mostly space and access: somewhere level outside for the barbecue and the serving table. We will confirm details when we quote.

What if it rains?

We cook under cover, so rain is not a problem for the food. Have a gazebo, marquee or room indoors for eating.

Is BBQ catering only for summer?

Most barbecues are in summer, but we can cook in any season. Guests will want somewhere dry and warm.

Do you bring plates?

We supply plates as standard. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Is there anything for vegans?

Yes. Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, and vegans get a vegan burger or sausage, cooked separately from the meat.

For planners, venues and organisers

If the event is on someone else’s land, the landowner needs to agree to cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.

If you’re a venue or event planner, we can fit around your other suppliers, sharing timings and a site plan.

What the cooking area needs

Most gardens, yards, car parks and fields can take a barbecue with a little planning. Check these:

  • A level spot in the garden, on the patio or drive
  • Somewhere for us to park close to the cooking spot
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

As a London location, Dulwich Village is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access takes planning: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.
