The menu, dish by dish
BBQ ribs
Ribs are a favourite with keen barbecue fans.
Pulled pork
Pulled pork is slow-cooked until it falls apart, piled into rolls, frequently with coleslaw.
How we price a catered barbecue
The biggest factors are:
- Season and day of the week
- Numbers
- The journey to the venue
- Access to the cooking area
The menu makes a big difference to the price: a simple menu costs less than one with brisket and ribs, so we list each item in the quote. Ask us to suggest a menu for your budget.
Details that help
For a quick, accurate price, send us:
- Your date and serving time
- Roughly how many people
- The address or postcode
- Any venue rules
Send us the date, the address or SO42 postcode and rough numbers, along with your serving time. We will check the date and send a quote. Send us your details through our quote form.
How the day works
Before service, we set up the grill and the serving table on the agreed spot. Then our chef cooks and the team serves for as long as we’ve agreed. Evening barbecues in Furzey Lodge need a little planning: it’s light until about 9:25pm in June but only about 7:10pm in late September. After dark, the serving table needs lighting.
- Send us the date, the place and roughly how many.
- Choose your meats and sides.
- We check the space and quote.
- We cook on site and serve at the agreed time.
- We pack away and leave the area tidy.
Getting ready for the day
- Plan lighting if the barbecue runs into the evening
- Think about shelter for your guests
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

Compared with a barbecue cooked by friends, a catered barbecue means everyone gets to be a guest, and the food is cooked by people who do it every week. Compare like for like: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote is not always the best value.

Furzey Lodge questions
Can you do a barbecue at a venue in the New Forest National Park?
Yes. Some venues there have rules about cooking and vehicles, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.
Do you come out to small places like Furzey Lodge?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Is the food cooked safely?
Our chef cooks everything thoroughly, with raw and cooked food kept apart, in line with Food Standards Agency guidance.
What if it rains?
The barbecue cooks under cover, so a shower does not stop it. Plan somewhere dry for your guests to eat.
Can you serve the barbecue on plates?
Of course. A barbecue works as a plated meal with sides.
What happens after service?
Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.
Can we have a barbecue in winter?
Summer is the busiest time, but we cook all year. Plan shelter for your guests.
Is clearing up included?
Plates come as standard and our staff clear the serving area.
Allergies and dietary needs
You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:
- Check the allergen information for sauces and marinades
- Keep the meat-free options clearly labelled
- Plan separately for anyone who needs halal food
- Ask for gluten-free rolls if anyone needs them
Running late? Let us know, and we’ll work around it where possible.
