Christmas hog roast for Enfield

Enfield: your questions answered

Could you cook in Enfield Town Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Enfield?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard usually works. Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly.

How do we prepare?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

Do you bring plates?

We bring plates as standard. China crockery is available on request and quoted separately.

What if things run late?

We will be as flexible as we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll adjust.

How long does the roast need?

A whole hog roasts for several hours, which is why we arrive hours ahead. We work back from your serving time.

Do guests have to eat outside?

Cooking is always outdoors; serving can be indoors.

What if it rains?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

About our Christmas hog roast in Enfield

Christmas get-togethers can mean plenty of people, and a hog roast feeds everyone without anyone stuck in the kitchen. On the menu are halloumi skewers, roast turkey and roast potatoes, and we’re regularly asked to cater late-night shopping events and society Christmas socials.

London Christmas parties in Enfield are frequently at offices, pubs with a courtyard or homes with a garden. Let us know about lighting and the way in. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

Should I cook it myself?

Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Organising for someone else?

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, from approved lists to where a gas roaster can go. Check early, and pass on anything they need from us.

If you’re booking for a workplace, check with facilities about gas equipment and vehicle access. We work to the site’s rules.

What the cooking area needs

It’s worth planning the cooking area in advance. The ideal spot has:

  • A hall, office or heated marquee for guests
  • Hardstanding if possible in winter
  • Parking near the cooking area

Enfield is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

What happens on the day

We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking does not depend on mains power, though a socket nearby is handy for lighting. A lunchtime Christmas party in Enfield is the only one in good daylight, as it is dark by about 3:50pm, so for anything later, plan lights and somewhere warm to eat.

  1. It starts with your date, venue and rough numbers.
  2. We check the venue and send a price.
  3. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.
  4. We carve and serve hot when you’re ready.
  5. We clear away, even on a dark, wet evening.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Think about shelter for your guests
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

About the food

Roast turkey

For Christmas, roast turkey can join the pork, carved to order for a festive feel.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers ensure they’re not left with just salad.

Allergies and dietary needs

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. A few tips:

  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately
  • Label alternatives clearly
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers
  • Stuffing generally contains gluten, so check the allergen list

Lighting at the serving table matters after dark.

Festive lights around the serving area look great.
