Christmas hog roast in Paulsgrove

How our Christmas hog roast works in Paulsgrove

Winter weather is part of the plan: we cook under cover, and guests eat somewhere warm. Indoors or a heated marquee is ideal. We’re frequently asked to cater christmas fairs and staff Christmas do’s, with roast turkey, rotisserie chicken and hog roast rolls.

For a Christmas get-together near Paulsgrove, hot rolls from the roaster go down well on a dark December evening. Timings are planned around your Christmas party, working back from when you want to eat.

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken
  • Site access
  • Distance from us

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. Every booking is different, which is why each one gets its own quote.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, tell us:

  • Your menu choices
  • Where the event is
  • A photo of the cooking area
  • Any venue rules

For a quote, send us a few details: the date and serving time, the venue or PO6 postcode, rough numbers and which extras you’d like. Send us your details through our quote form.

Catered or do it yourself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.

The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a big roast takes hours and must be cooked thoroughly. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a plated turkey lunch, a hog roast with turkey is relaxed and easier to serve. What you pay covers the meat, the chef and staff, and hours of roasting. A long, slow roast means an early start, and the quote reflects that.

What you get with us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Serving and clearing done for you
  • Timed around your day

The process

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. It’s worth planning a sheltered place for people to eat, too. In December, it is dark in Paulsgrove by about 4:00pm, so plan lighting for any party after mid-afternoon. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.

  1. Tell us when and where the party is.
  2. We check the outdoor cooking spot and quote.
  3. We set up in daylight and roast into the evening.
  4. Our chef carves and staff serve.
  5. We pack up, even in the rain.

Planning help

Diets, allergies and alternatives

With a bit of planning, dietary needs are easier to handle. Here are a few tips:

  • Label alternatives clearly
  • Remember stuffing normally contains gluten
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if needed
  • Give us vegetarian and vegan numbers

We set up while it’s still light, and cook into the evening.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
