Catered or do it yourself?

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is generally easier.

Diets, allergies and alternatives

We give full allergen information for every dish. To help:

  • Halal isn’t offered, so arrange it separately if needed
  • Count anyone who doesn’t eat pork, so we can bring chicken, lamb or vegetarian options
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Remember that stuffing normally contains gluten

On the day, we arrive early and set up where agreed, and the roast cooks through the morning.

Add rotisserie chicken or lamb for choice.

What happens on the day

Carving is part of the show: the hog is carved in front of your staff, and the crackling is shared out so everyone gets some. After-work summer events in Great Linford have light until about 9:25pm at midsummer and 8:55pm in late May, so an after-work hog roast works well in summer. By late September, sunset is around 7:05pm.

  1. You send us the site address, date, numbers and serving window.
  2. We check access and the cooking area, then quote.
  3. On the day we set up and roast through the morning.
  4. The team carves and serves on time.
  5. We tidy up and leave the site clean.

How to prepare
