Film set catering for West End

Film set catering in West End, carved to order

For a wrap party, a hog roast is relaxed and generous, with crew eating together at the end of the shoot. For countryside locations and long days on set, we will put together a menu of salads, spit-roast lamb and rotisserie chicken.

For a shoot in a place like West End, tracks and soft ground need checking before the day. Your quote spells out what’s included: serving times, the menu, staff and anything else agreed.

Working with your venue

Planning on behalf of a committee? A single point of contact keeps things simple, especially on the day.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Ask early, and pass on anything they need from us.

Allergies and dietary needs

Some crew will not eat pork, so it’s worth adding an alternative. A few pointers:

  • Halal isn’t offered
  • Request gluten-free rolls
  • Keep vegetarian food labelled
  • Collect crew dietary needs from the call sheet

We pack away straight after service.

Ask about china.

Who books film set catering in West End?

It feeds a crew quickly once carving starts.

Hosts in West End book us for small gatherings and big outdoor days alike. For example:

  • Unit base lunches
  • Shoots on location
  • End-of-shoot wraps
  • Ad shoots

For cast and crew travelling by train, the closest railway station is Chestfield & Swalecliffe station, roughly 1.3 miles north-west of the centre.

What to look for in a quote

  • Plates, china and cutlery
  • When payments are due and what happens if plans change
  • Travel and any London charges
  • Exactly what’s included in the price

Choosing a hog roast caterer

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • Away from vehicles and equipment
  • Shelter for crew
  • A contact in production

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What we serve

  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Hog roast rolls
  • Vegan option (Ve)
  • New potatoes
  • Spit-roast lamb
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Salads

The process

We roast under cover, so a shower won’t spoil the food. Your crew will still want somewhere dry to eat, such as a marquee, hall or barn. In December, daylight in West End ends around 3:50pm, so the unit base needs lighting for late service. Summer shoots have daylight until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send us the location, dates and lunch time.
  2. We confirm access and send a price.
  3. We set up at base and roast through the morning.
  4. We serve when lunch is called.
  5. We pack away straight after.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
  • Send final numbers in good time
  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches

Your questions about a hog roast for the crew in West End

Can you do a hog roast in Curtis Wood?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

What’s the nearest station to West End?

The closest is Chestfield & Swalecliffe station, roughly 1.3 miles away.

What space does the roaster need?

Roughly the footprint of a gazebo or two, on level ground, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We will check it with you before booking.

What about coeliacs?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Stuffing normally contains gluten, so check the allergen information.

How big a hog will we need?

We plan quantities from the numbers you give us, and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

When should we book?

The earlier the better for popular dates. But do ask even at short notice: use our quote form.

Do you do wrap parties?

We do.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

We can serve in rolls or on plates, and gluten-free rolls are available on request.

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, which keeps it hot and moist right to the last roll.

Prices and what affects them

Each price is built from:

  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Access to the cooking area
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

When comparing prices, compare the same things: the menu, sides, service time, staffing, crockery and travel. The cheapest quote isn’t always the best value.

What to tell us

When you get in touch, please mention:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many people
  • What the outdoor space is like
  • Dietary requirements

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we will quote on that, then confirm closer to the date. Fill in our quote form.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with sandwiches from a shop, a hot hog roast keeps morale up. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.

Why us?

  • Timed around your day
  • An itemised quote
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling

See our pricing and our hog roast cost guide.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Freshly carved pork with crackling, stuffing and apple sauce
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
