About the food

Salads, potatoes and coleslaw

Crunchy coleslaw suits roast pork, while salads and potatoes make a plated meal.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Some guests will be vegetarian, so halloumi and vegetable skewers ensure they’re not left with just salad.

About our wedding hog roast in West End

Couples book a hog roast for the main meal, the evening or both. We roast at the venue through the ceremony and drinks, and our chef carves on cue. On the menu are halloumi skewers, new potatoes and carved roast pork, and we are regularly asked to cater marquee weddings and small, informal weddings.

Near West End, weddings are frequently in fields, barns or gardens. A hog roast is made for that: no kitchen needed, just an outdoor cooking spot. Let us know about access and ground. Everything is cooked on the day, at your venue, slowly, over several hours, then carved fresh for your guests.

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with a cold evening buffet, hot rolls carved to order go down much better late at night. Numbers make the biggest difference: bigger groups usually cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why book with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Timed around your day
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside

What the cooking area needs

A hog roast cooks outdoors for hours, so the spot matters, and a little planning goes a long way:

  • A short walk from the serving station to the guests
  • Clear space away from the marquee and any branches
  • A way in for the roaster

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

West End questions

We’re gathering after a service at St Peter: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is normally served at the reception venue rather than the church. Send us the address.

Is West End close to London?

Roughly 52 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

What happens after service?

Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.

Can you roast in the rain?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower does not stop us. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Do you serve the food?

No need for your own staff: we carve, serve and tidy up.

Is a hog roast OK for a sit-down meal?

Of course: carved pork on plates with sides, and our staff serve your guests.

Where do you cook at a marquee wedding?

Always outside, away from the marquee walls. Serving inside is fine where allowed.

What space does the roaster need?

Enough level ground outdoors for the roaster and a serving table under cover, plus a step-free route to wheel the equipment in. Send us a picture if you are unsure.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

A barbecue is the other obvious choice, but someone has to stand at the grill all day. A hog roast cooks in one go and is carved for everyone.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we will explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

What happens on the day

Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. At a December wedding in West End, it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so plan a lit path from the party to the food, while a June wedding has light until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and guest numbers.
  2. We confirm the date and the venue and send a price.
  3. We fit timings around your running order.
  4. The hog roasts through the afternoon; our chef carves on cue.
  5. Our staff serve and clear, then we leave quietly.

How to prepare

  • Ensure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Think about shelter for your guests
