Slow-roasted pork in Puddle Dock

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, since every event is different. What matters most:

  • The serving time and how long we’re on site
  • Distance from us
  • How many people are eating
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. A long, slow roast means an early start, which is built into the price.

Details that help

These are the details we need:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Roughly how many people
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Anything the venue has asked for

Send us the date, the address or RM14 postcode and rough numbers, plus when you’d like to eat. We will confirm availability and send a price. Send us your details through our quote form.

How our funeral wake catering works in Puddle Dock

Roast pork with salads, new potatoes and coleslaw makes a proper meal. Chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option are there for anyone who does not eat pork. Whether it is scattering-of-ashes gatherings and anniversary memorials, we will put together a menu of halloumi skewers, new potatoes and apple sauce for your guests.

In Puddle Dock, a hall with outdoor space is often the easiest option. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll give you the allergen information for every dish before booking.

For event organisers in Puddle Dock

Marquee suppliers generally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Many venues set rules for outside caterers, including where gas cooking is allowed. Check early, and tell us what they ask for.

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Before booking, check:

  • Vehicle access near the cooking area
  • Space away from the building and any trees
  • Permission from the hall or venue

Puddle Dock is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: tell us about side or rear access, steps and parking for our vehicle.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Read the checklist

A hog roast or other catering?

Compared with family members cooking, a catered hog roast lets everyone be together. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why Puddle Dock hosts choose us

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • Staff to serve, so you do not have to
  • Timed around your day
  • All the equipment comes with us

Take a look at our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

How it works

The roaster cooks outdoors, on a level, open spot under cover, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We agree exactly where before the day. Autumn and winter afternoons in Puddle Dock get dark early: about 7:00pm in late September and 3:50pm in December, so we plan lighting for later gatherings.

  1. You tell us the date, the venue, rough numbers and when people will arrive.
  2. We confirm availability and send a price.
  3. We set up and roast while you are at the service.
  4. We serve when everyone arrives, calmly and without fuss.
  5. We clear away discreetly.

Before we arrive

  • Keep the spot clear of buildings, marquee walls and overhanging branches
  • Tell us about narrow gates or side passages
  • Have a covered area for eating in case of rain

We hold the food if people are delayed.
