Slow-roasted pork in America Ground

The menu, dish by dish

Rotisserie chicken

Chicken from the rotisserie gives people a non-pork choice, turned until the skin is golden.

Crackling

Long, slow roasting turns the skin into crackling, and there’s a piece for everyone who wants it.

Hog roast for events in America Ground, carved to order

School fairs and sports days need food that families like. Pork rolls, chicken and a vegan option cover most visitors. Whether it is club events and community events, we will put together a menu of a vegan burger or sausage, halloumi skewers and hog roast rolls.

Summer fairs around America Ground are often run by volunteers, so a trader who brings everything is a bonus. Let us know about allergies and dietary needs in advance, and we’ll give you the allergen information for every dish.

Is a hog roast right for your event?

Compared with a barbecue stall, a hog roast serves quickly from one roast. The price depends on numbers, the menu and how long we serve, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why book our hog roast in America Ground

  • Roasted on site, slowly, for hours
  • Planned to your running order
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside
  • Sides to make it a full meal

See our pricing or the cost guide.

What affects the price in America Ground

There is no fixed price list, because every event is different. The main factors are:

  • The date and time of year
  • Access to the cooking area
  • Numbers
  • Distance from us

A hog roast is often good value for a crowd, because one whole roast feeds a lot of people. The menu, extras such as china and the serving time all affect the final price.

What we need to know

When you contact us, it helps to include:

  • A picture of the cooking area
  • The date and time of the event
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • Rough numbers

The quickest way to get a price is to tell us the date, where the event is and roughly how many. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Send us your details through our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

Catered or DIY? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You cook and carve it yourself; we will confirm what comes with it when you ask.

America Ground questions

Could you cook in Linton Gardens?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Is America Ground close to London?

About 53 miles from central London.

How do you work out quantities?

The roast is chosen to suit how many you’re feeding, so tell us your best estimate. We’ll confirm the menu in the quote.

Can you come to our fête?

We do. Send us the details.

How soon do you get booked up?

Popular dates go early. But do ask even at short notice: fill in our quote form.

What happens in bad weather?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Is crockery included?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.

For planners, venues and organisers

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We’ll fit in with site rules.

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so tell them a hog roast is coming. We will keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

What happens on the day

A hog roast is always cooked outside, under a gazebo on level ground, well clear of walls, tents and trees. We’ll agree the spot with you beforehand. Late-May events in America Ground have light until about 8:45pm, and midsummer ones until about 9:15pm. Evening festivals need lighting by the stall after that.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
  3. On the day we set up under cover and get the hog on.
  4. We serve to order through the event.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Give us final numbers a week or so before
  • Make sure we can wheel the roaster to the spot
