Slow-roasted pork in Charlwood

Why a carved hog roast beats a buffet

Compared with burger vans, a hog roast feels more special. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

What you get with us

  • Rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Self-contained: roaster, cover and serving kit
  • Timed around your day
  • Choices for people who do not eat pork

Allergies and dietary needs

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Some ideas:

  • Make the stall easy to find
  • Balance the food line-up
  • Gluten-free rolls can be brought on request
  • Put the menu and allergen information on display

We get to the pitch early, so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Charlwood

Is Charlwood too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.

Can you do a hog roast in Edolph's Copse?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council, and many parks don’t allow cooking. Check with them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you need power on site?

Cooking is gas-fired. Power helps for lighting.

Is mains power needed?

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. A socket nearby is useful for lighting.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, at a safe distance from walls and tents. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

When should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Send your date and we’ll check.

How do we prepare?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. We bring the roaster, cover and serving kit.

What space does the roaster need?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, away from buildings, marquee walls and overhanging trees. We’ll confirm the space with your quote.

How it works

When we arrive, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. At midsummer, events in Charlwood stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading typically finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. We check the pitch and any paperwork, then quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve rolls to order as the queue moves.
  5. We pack up and leave the pitch tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment
  • Ask about allergies and dietary needs beforehand
  • Let us know about tight access
