How the day works

Your timings come first. If things run late, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so keep us posted on the day. In December, Epsom is dark by about 3:55pm, so the pitch needs good lighting and a clear route for the queue.

  1. You tell us the event, the pitch and the expected crowd.
  2. We check access to the pitch and send a price.
  3. We arrive early, set up on the pitch and start roasting.
  4. We carve and serve through the agreed hours.
  5. We pack down, take our waste and leave the pitch clean.

How to prepare

  • Choose someone to meet us on arrival
  • Think about shelter for your visitors
  • Send final numbers in good time

Is a hog roast right for your event?

A hog roast alongside cakes and teas gives visitors a good choice. Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, plus travel and access. There’s no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Why book with us

  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Fresh carving at the serving station
  • Staff to serve, so you don’t have to

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Epsom

Do you trade at school fairs around Epsom?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date and where the roaster would go.

How far is Epsom from London?

Roughly 14 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

How do we prepare?

Just the agreed spot and a contact on the day. Everything for roasting and serving comes with us.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

Because the roast takes hours, we plan from your serving time, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

Is electricity needed?

Mainly a pitch and access. Everything else comes with us.

Can you do gluten-free?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

Do you clear up?

Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Looking after everyone

Tell us about dietary needs early and we’ll help. Tips:

  • Check other traders aren’t all selling pork
  • Plan separately for halal if needed
  • Ask for gluten-free rolls if you expect coeliac visitors
  • Make the stall easy to find

We serve as the queue moves.

Add rotisserie chicken for visitors who don’t eat pork.

Space, access and the venue

The roaster needs space, cover and a safe distance from anything that could catch the heat. Things to check:

  • A safe distance from other traders
  • Access for our vehicle to the pitch
  • Flat, firm ground for the roaster

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Popular choices

  • Stuffing and apple sauce
  • Halloumi skewers (V)
  • Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Epsom events: pitches and permissions

Epsom is about 12 miles south of Kensington, in Surrey. We are happy to travel to Epsom for events and the places nearby. Epsom is one of 395 towns and villages in Surrey we cover. Our nearest city page is London, about 14 miles away.

For anyone arriving by train, Epsom has its own station, Epsom station. Events in parks such as Epsom Common need permission from the council or landowner for cooking and vehicles. Within about 6 miles is the Surrey Hills National Landscape, where events may have extra rules on cooking and waste; we’ll follow the site’s requirements.

We cover events in every part of KT19, KT18 and KT17 and the streets around it. Whether your event is on High Street, Upper High Street and Church Road or anywhere nearby, we can set up and roast there. Being close to the A24 and B280, Epsom is simple for us to get to with the roaster. If your venue is just outside Epsom, we also cover Ewell (1 mile north-east), North Looe (1 mile east), Horton (1 mile north-west), Epsom Downs (1 mile south-east) and Langley Vale (2 miles south). We also serve nearby towns such as Guildford (15 miles south-west), Woking (13 miles west), Horley (12 miles south), Redhill (8 miles south-east), Egham (14 miles north-west) and Reigate (7 miles south-east). Epsom is among the bigger towns we cover in Surrey, with plenty of venues for events.

A little further out are Municipal Borough of Surbiton (2.9 miles north-west) and Chessington Castle Hill (1.8 miles north-west). Within reach you will find The Lake and Bonesgate Open Space.

  • Nearby schools include Epsom Primary and Nursery School (within half a mile north) and Rosebery School (0.6 miles south-west)
  • Nearby, you’ll find The Wellington Public House (under half a mile south-east)

What affects the price in Epsom

We don’t use a fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Season and day of the week
  • The journey to the venue
  • How many people are eating
  • The menu and extras such as lamb or chicken

When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What to tell us

To get the best quote, send us:

  • Your date and serving time
  • Roughly how many people
  • Which meats and sides you’d like
  • Any venue rules

Getting a quote is simple: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Fill in our quote form.

Choosing a hog roast caterer

For planners, venues and organisers

Marquee hire companies frequently have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Event organisers often ask caterers for paperwork such as a risk assessment. Let us know what your event requires and we’ll confirm what we can provide.

What we serve, dish by dish

Stuffing and apple sauce

Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness go with the pork perfectly. Stuffing normally contains gluten.

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, so it stays hot and juicy right to the last roll.

  • Roasted slowly at your venue, outdoors and under cover
  • Carved by our chef into rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Lamb, chicken and vegetarian options alongside the pork
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
