A hog roast near Jacobs Well

About our hog roast for events in Jacobs Well

Festivals and shows run for hours, and we serve through the agreed hours, carving as the queue grows. Whether it’s summer fêtes and country shows, we can cook crackling, apple sauce and rotisserie chicken.

Rural events near Jacobs Well can be a long way from anywhere to eat, so a hog roast goes down well. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we pack away and leave the area as we found it.

Full catering or machine hire?

A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.

Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With DIY hire, you do the work and save on staffing.

A hog roast compared with other options

Compared with a barbecue stall, carving is faster than grilling to order. When comparing prices, compare the same things: menu, sides, serving time, staff, plates and travel. A cheaper headline price can leave things out.

What you get with us

  • Served at the time you choose
  • Crackling for everyone who wants it
  • Slow-roasted at your venue, not reheated
  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too

Read our prices page and the cost guide.

Step by step

Serving is straightforward: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, with the sides served alongside. When everyone has eaten, we clear up and leave the spot tidy. Summer events in Jacobs Well have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, the pitch needs lighting.

  1. Share the date, site and expected crowds.
  2. We discuss the package or stall options.
  3. We roast on the pitch.
  4. Carving keeps the queue moving.
  5. We tidy the pitch.

Before we arrive

  • Have a level outdoor spot ready
  • Check there’s a route to wheel the equipment in, without steps
  • Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in Jacobs Well

Can you do a hog roast at a venue in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules for caterers; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

How far is Jacobs Well from London?

About 26 miles from central London.

Do you offer gluten-free rolls?

Gluten-free rolls are available on request. Ask for the allergen list, as stuffing normally contains gluten.

What will our event need from you?

Tell us what your event requires, and we will tell you what we can send.

What happens in bad weather?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain isn’t a problem for the roast. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

Is crockery included?

Plates are included. You can upgrade to china if you prefer.

Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?

No, the roast is always cooked outdoors under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. We can frequently serve indoors if the venue agrees.

Where does the hog roast go?

A level, open area outdoors with room for the roaster, a gazebo and a carving table, well clear of walls, tents and branches. We will confirm the space with your quote.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We will keep you both updated.

Some venues add a fee for outside caterers, so check before booking. We’ll work with the venue on access and the cooking spot.

  • Cooked where you are, slowly, over several hours outdoors
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Options beyond pork, including lamb, chicken and vegetarian dishes
  • Served by our staff at the time you choose, then cleared away
