What affects the price in Mongewell
Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:
- The journey to the venue
- Site access
- Menu choices and extras
- Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
Most of the cost is the meat, the staff and the time on site. Slow roasting means we are on site for much of the day, which is built into the price.

- Rules from the venue or landowner

Hog roast for events near Mongewell
For organisers, one reliable hot-food trader makes life easier. We’re self-contained and leave the pitch tidy. We are frequently asked to cater car shows and rallies and school fairs and sports days, serving rotisserie chicken, crackling and halloumi skewers.
At a field event near Mongewell, power and water may be limited; we cook on gas, so we do not need mains power. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

Organising for someone else?
If the event is on someone else’s land, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Get that agreed before booking.
If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, let us know who we’ll deal with on the day. We will keep you both updated.
Mongewell questions
How far is Mongewell from London?
About 44 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.
Do you trade at school fairs around Mongewell?
Yes, if the school is happy for a hog roast on site. Send us the date and where the roaster would go.
Is mains power needed?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we’ll plan around it.
Can we just hire the roaster?
We do, if you are happy to roast and carve yourself. We’ll explain the details with your quote.
Can the hog roast be cooked indoors?
It cooks outside, under a gazebo, on a level spot. Serving indoors is normally fine if the venue is happy.
Is electricity needed?
Just a pitch, access and any agreed paperwork. Everything else comes with us.
Can you come to a PTA fair?
We do. Check vehicle access with the school.
How soon do you get booked up?
As early as you can for summer weekends and December. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we will check.
Looking after everyone
Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:
- Check other traders are not all selling pork
- Remember stuffing generally contains gluten
- Put the menu and allergen information on display
- Let us know if many visitors are vegetarian
We get to the pitch early, timed for the gates opening.
Gluten-free rolls are available on request.
Should I cook it myself?
Catered or DIY? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.
The hardest part of a DIY hog roast is timing: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If you’d rather not worry about it, let us cook.

The process
We cook on a gas-fired roaster, so cooking does not depend on mains power; a nearby socket helps with lights if service runs into the evening. Christmas fairs and lights switch-ons in Mongewell are dark by about 3:55pm, so plan lights for the stall and the queue.
