Hog roast for events in The Chart, carved to order
At a fête, fair or festival in The Chart, a hog roast stall draws a crowd. We cook on site and carve to order, so visitors get hot food fast. Whether it is car and steam shows and school events, we can cook a vegan burger or sausage, crackling and apple sauce for your visitors.
For a village fête or field event near The Chart, we can cook in a field. Tell us about the ground and the way in. Tell us about dietary needs and allergies when you enquire, and we’ll give you the allergen information for every dish.
DIY versus a catered hog roast
Roasting a whole hog yourself is possible, but it takes hours of attention, from setting up and lighting the roaster to carving. A catered hog roast means you can enjoy the day.
Buying in a cold buffet is another option, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience.

Your questions about a hog roast for your event in The Chart
What’s the nearest station to The Chart?
The closest is Hurst Green station, roughly 1.6 miles away.
Is The Chart too small for a hog roast?
No, we come to small places too. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.
Do you need power or water?
Not to cook, because the roaster is gas-fired. Tell us what’s available and we will plan around it.
What about visitors who don’t eat pork?
The menu has lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Halal meat isn’t something we offer.
Do you clear up?
Our staff clear up after service, leaving the spot as we found it.
Do you have documents for event organisers?
Send us your trader requirements, and we will tell you what we can send.
How long does a hog roast take to cook?
Several hours, depending on the size and the weather, so we arrive well before you want to eat. We work back from your serving time.
Do we need our own staff?
You don’t need anyone else: our chef carves and our team serves and clears.
How it works
Service is quick once we start carving: our chef carves and our staff fill the rolls or plates, and sides go out at the same time. Afterwards we clear the serving area and pack away. For an autumn event in The Chart, sunset is around 7:05pm in late September, so plan lighting if you’re trading into the evening.
- It starts with your event date, site and expected numbers.
- You get a check on the date and pitch, and a quote.
- We set up early so the roast is ready when visitors arrive.
- We serve to order through the event.
- Afterwards we clear the pitch and go.
Before we arrive
- Choose a level, open spot outdoors for the roaster
- Give us a contact number for the day
- Collect dietary needs and allergies in advance
How to get a price
It’s easy to get a price: tell us when, where, how many and what time you’d like to eat. We’ll reply with a clear price and what’s included. Send us your details through our quote form.

Allergies and dietary needs
Tell us about dietary needs early and we will help. Some ideas:
- Remember stuffing usually contains gluten
- Balance the food line-up
- Show allergens at the stall
- Make the stall easy to find
If the ground is soft, we will need a firm route on and off, especially after rain.
Add rotisserie chicken for visitors who don’t eat pork.

What a hog roast costs
There’s no fixed price list, because every event is different. The main factors are:
- How easy it is to reach the spot
- The serving time and how long we’re on site
- Distance from us
- The number of people
Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we will suggest what works.
What to tell us
For a quick, accurate price, send us:
- Any dietary needs or allergies
- The date and when you’d like to eat
- Your menu choices
- Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo
Not sure how many to cater for? A rough figure is fine for a first quote, and you can confirm nearer the time. Send us your details through our quote form.
A closer look at the menu
Crackling
The skin crisps up over the hours of roasting, and we break it up so everyone gets a piece.
Rolls and gluten-free rolls
We can serve in rolls or on plates, with gluten-free rolls on request.
A hog roast or other catering?
Next to volunteers cooking, we take the cooking off your volunteers. Extras such as lamb, chicken, more sides or china crockery add to the cost, so each one is itemised. A simple menu keeps the cost down.
