Slow-roasted pork in Watermead
About our hog roast for events in Watermead
School fairs and sports days need food that families like. Pork rolls, chicken and a vegan option cover most visitors. For small festivals and agricultural and country shows, we can cook a vegan burger or sausage, hog roast rolls and halloumi skewers for your visitors.
For events in a place like Watermead, one hot-food trader most people like makes life easy. Roast pork rolls do exactly that. Our chef carves in front of your visitors, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

A hog roast compared with other options
Compared with a barbecue stall, a hog roast serves quickly from one roast. Published UK guides give a wide range for hog roast catering, from around £10 a head for a basic roll to £20 or more with sides and service. We quote every event individually, with everything listed.

Planners, venues and businesses
For events on land you don’t own, such as a park or field, you’ll need the landowner’s permission for cooking and vehicles. Sort that first.
If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a fête committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep everyone in the loop.

DIY versus a catered hog roast
DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.
You could roast a hog yourself, but it’s a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Step by step
On the day, we position the roaster under cover and get the hog cooking. From there it cooks low and slow for hours, timed so it is ready when you want to eat. Summer events in Watermead have daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, which helps evening trading. Winter fairs, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.
- Tell us about the event.
- We confirm the pitch and send a price.
- We set up early on the pitch.
- We serve as visitors arrive.
- We leave the pitch clean.
