Hog roast hire for your event in Abinger Common

We roast the hog at your event, not in a kitchen miles away, so the pork is hot and the crackling is crisp when it is served. Add lamb, chicken or vegetarian options if you like. For weddings and receptions and garden parties and barbecues, we can cook coleslaw, hog roast rolls and new potatoes and more.

In a small place like Abinger Common, a hog roast often goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. We bring plates as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

How it works

A typical booking goes like this: the roaster goes up and the hog goes on, the pork cooks slowly for hours, and we carve and serve at the agreed time. Evenings in Abinger Common stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light at the carving station.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. The chef carves and the team fills rolls or plates.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • How long the roast and service take
  • Site access
  • Whether you want china
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays

Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

Your questions about a hog roast in Abinger Common

Is Abinger Common too small for a hog roast?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

Could you cook in Wotton and Abinger Commons?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council, and many parks do not allow cooking. Ask them first, and tell us what they say.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear the serving area, so you are not left with the mess.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. We will explain the details with your quote.

How far ahead should we book?

Summer Saturdays and December book up first. Quieter dates can often be booked at shorter notice. Ask and we’ll check.

Is there a non-pork option?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

What should we sort out beforehand?

A clear, level cooking spot, a route to wheel the equipment in and a contact for the day. We will bring the rest.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

Hours rather than minutes. We’ll confirm our arrival time when we quote.

Looking after everyone

Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:

  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans for the halloumi skewers and vegan option
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We get there early, cook, carve and serve, then clear up.

China crockery is available on request, quoted separately.

Organising for someone else?

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before booking. We’ll liaise with them on access and set-up.
