Hog roast hire in Ashampstead

About our hog roast hire in Ashampstead

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, for hours, under a gazebo outside. Then our chef carves it and the team serves it in rolls with sage and onion stuffing, apple sauce and crackling. On the menu are salads, crackling and spit-roast lamb, and we’re regularly asked to cater weddings and receptions and club events and presentations.

Somewhere as small as Ashampstead, a field, yard or garden is often the spot. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives, and firm, level ground matters most. We bring the roaster, the cover and everything we need to cook and serve, and we leave the spot tidy when we go.

What comes off the roaster

Roast pork

We carve as we serve, so it stays hot and juicy.

Crackling

The skin crisps up over the hours of roasting, and we break it up so everyone gets a piece.

Ashampstead: your questions answered

How far is Ashampstead from London?

Roughly 47 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

We’re gathering after a service at Church of St Clement: can you cater?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Churches rarely have space for a hog roast, so the food is generally elsewhere. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Do you cover the whole of Oxfordshire?

We cover Oxfordshire and the rest of London and the South East. Send us the address and we’ll quote.

Is crackling included?

Yes, the crackling is shared out as we carve.

Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?

Both are available: we can cater fully or hire out the machine. Most people choose catering.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

Yes, for confident cooks. We will explain the details with your quote.

Do you leave the area tidy?

Our staff clear the serving area, and we take our equipment with us.

What happens in bad weather?

The roaster is under cover, so a shower doesn’t stop us. Plan somewhere sheltered for eating.

For planners, venues and organisers

For workplace bookings, ask your facilities team about outside caterers and gas cooking. We will fit in with site rules.

Marquee hire companies often have rules about cooking near their tents, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Why choose a hog roast in Ashampstead?

Full catering or machine hire? Catering means we do everything; DIY hire means you roast and carve yourself. For bigger events, catering is typically the easier choice. The main driver is numbers: bigger groups generally cost less per head, because the roaster, staff and travel cost much the same either way.

Why us?

  • A choice of salads and potatoes
  • We bring everything to cook and serve
  • Timed around your day
  • No surprises: everything in writing

Read our prices page or our hog roast cost guide.

Should I cook it myself?

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Full catering or machine hire? Catered means we do everything: roasting, carving, serving and clearing. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.

The process

We work to your timings. If things run late, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so keep us posted on the day. Late September evenings in Ashampstead lose the light at about 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 4:00pm. After dark, a lit path to the food makes a difference.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We check the date and the cooking spot, then send a quote.
  3. Timings and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there is nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Send final numbers in good time

Getting a price

We price every booking individually, because numbers, menu, serving time and travel vary. Ask us for a quote for your event: send us your details through our quote form.

Prices and what affects them

Each booking is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Whether you want china
  • The journey to the venue
  • Busy dates such as summer Saturdays
  • The number of people

Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest what works.

What to tell us

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • Where the event is
  • Rules from the venue or landowner
  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo

Busy weekends book up early, so ask early for summer Saturdays and December. Tell us your date and we’ll check it: use our quote form.

  • Roasted on site for several hours, outdoors under cover
  • Carved to order by our chef, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling
  • Vegetarian and vegan choices, plus lamb or chicken if you like
  • Served when you’re ready, and we tidy the serving area afterwards
