Hog roast hire in New Town

New Town questions

Is New Town close to London?

Roughly 44 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Can you cater after a service at St Stephen's Church?

Yes, at a nearby hall, home or venue with room to cook outside. Food is usually served at the reception venue rather than the church. Tell us where you’ll gather.

Can you be flexible on serving time?

We work back from when you want to eat, and we can hold the roast for a while if the day runs behind.

What happens when we hire a hog roast?

We handle the roasting, carving and serving. All we need is a place to cook outdoors.

Will there be enough to go round?

We size the roast to your numbers, so tell us your best estimate. We will confirm the menu in the quote.

Can we choose catered or DIY?

Either: we can cater fully or hire out the machine. Catering is the most popular choice.

Can you cook inside a hall or marquee?

The roaster always stays outside, under cover, away from buildings and marquee walls. Serving inside is often possible, with the venue’s agreement.

What if it rains?

We cook under a gazebo, so rain is not a problem for the roast. Somewhere covered for people to eat helps.

About our hog roast hire in New Town

Our hog roast hire is fully catered: we roast, our chef carves and our staff serve. If you’d rather do it yourself, we also hire out the machine. Typical bookings include big birthdays and anniversaries and staff days and open days, with crackling, hog roast rolls and spit-roast lamb.

In a small place like New Town, a hog roast often goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and firm, level ground matters most. Plates come as standard, with china available if you’d like it, at an extra cost.

About the food

Stuffing and apple sauce

Apple sauce brings sweetness and sharpness are the traditional pairing. Note that stuffing typically contains gluten.

Vegan burger or sausage (Ve)

Let us know numbers for the vegan option, and we’ll plan the vegan burgers or sausages.

Looking after everyone

A little planning helps everyone eat safely. A few tips:

  • We do not offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
  • Collect allergies with your RSVPs
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Label the vegetarian and vegan food clearly

We bring the cover, the carving table and the serving kit, so all you need is the space.

Add lamb or chicken for a second roast.

A hog roast compared with other options

The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. That’s why we offer lamb, chicken, halloumi skewers and a vegan option for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Weekday and off-season dates can be easier to book, and the menu you choose matters too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

What happens on the day

We work to your timings. If the day runs behind, we can hold the cooked roast for a while before carving, so keep us posted on the day. Late September evenings in New Town lose the light at about 7:10pm, and at Christmas it comes at about 3:55pm. For anything after that, plan lights for the serving area.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We look at the cooking area and send a price.
  3. We arrive early, set up under cover and start roasting.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We clear up and go.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

If you’re confident and want to save on staff, DIY machine hire is an option. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll explain what’s supplied and how it works when we quote.

You could roast a hog yourself, but it is a long day’s work, from early set-up to carving at the end. With us catering, you get to be a host, not a cook.

Space, access and the venue

We need room to cook safely and under cover. Before booking, check:

  • The venue’s agreement to a gas-fired roaster
  • A step-free route to wheel the equipment in
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.
