Hog roast hire for Avisford

Looking after everyone

Standard rolls and stuffing contain gluten, so ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them. A few more tips:

  • We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it is needed
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
  • Request gluten-free rolls for coeliac guests

We will agree a contact for the day, who can show us the cooking spot and pass on any changes.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

A hog roast or other catering?

Next to a street-food van, a hog roast feeds a crowd quickly from one roast, with no waiting for individual orders to cook. Adding lamb, chicken, extra sides or china changes the price, so each one is itemised. Keeping it simple keeps it affordable.

Why us?

  • Halloumi skewers and a vegan option too
  • Carved by our chef in front of your guests
  • Served at the time you choose
  • All the equipment comes with us

What happens on the day

We arrive hours before you want to eat, because a whole hog takes hours to roast. Your guests will smell it long before they see it. In Avisford, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so a summer evening hog roast is normally carved in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so the cooking and serving area needs lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get an availability check and a clear quote.
  3. We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
  4. On the day we roast for hours, then carve to order.
  5. We serve, tidy up and leave the spot clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Measure the narrowest gate or passage
  • Check there’s nothing overhead or close by that could catch the heat
  • Plan a step-free way in for the equipment

What a hog roast costs

We don’t use a fixed price list, because every event is different. What matters most:

  • Access to the cooking area
  • Travel to Avisford
  • The date and time of year
  • How long the roast and service take

Cost depends on numbers, menu choices and service time, along with distance and how easy the site is. There is no one-size price, so we quote each one individually.

Getting an accurate quote

To check the date and the space, tell us:

  • Any extras, such as lamb, chicken or china
  • Roughly how many people
  • Any dietary needs or allergies
  • Where the event is

The quickest way to get a price is to send us your date, venue and numbers. A picture of where the roaster could go helps us check the space. Fill in our quote form.

What we serve, dish by dish

Roast pork

Everything starts with the slow-roasted pork: carved in front of you, a mix of shoulder and leg, and served hot.

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

For vegetarians, halloumi and vegetable skewers are cooked separately from the meat, so they get something hot and satisfying too.

DIY versus a catered hog roast

Some hosts try a barbecue instead, but someone ends up cooking in batches all afternoon. With a hog roast, one roast feeds everyone at once.

Full catering or machine hire? With catering, our chef roasts, carves and serves, and our staff clear up. With hire only, you do the cooking yourself.
