Hog roast hire in Bexley

Hog roast hire in Bexley, slow-roasted on site

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, over several hours, outdoors under cover. When it is ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and a piece of crackling. For community events and big birthdays and anniversaries, we can cook crackling, spit-roast lamb and rotisserie chicken for your guests.

Gardens in Bexley tend to be compact, with neighbours on both sides, so clearance from fences and windows matters most. Warn the neighbours: the roast cooks for hours. The hog is roasted on site at your event, slowly, over several hours, and carved only when you’re ready to eat.

Should I cook it myself?

You could go for a cold buffet, but hot, freshly carved roast pork is a different experience, especially outdoors.

Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.

Looking after everyone

Allergies and dietary needs are easy to manage if we know in advance. Tips:

  • If anyone needs halal food, plan a separate option
  • Put the menu on the invitation
  • Ask us to keep the vegetarian food separate and labelled
  • Give us numbers for vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages

Slow roasting needs attention, which is our job, not yours. You can get on with your event.

Gluten-free rolls are available on request.

How it works

On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Light matters for a long roast: in Bexley, sunset is around 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, while in December the light goes at about 3:50pm.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and address.
  2. We check the space and quote.
  3. We get the roaster going hours before you eat.
  4. Our chef carves and our staff serve.
  5. We pack away and leave you to it.

Preparing for the day

What a hog roast costs

A few things make the biggest difference to the price:

  • Crockery choices
  • Numbers
  • The date and time of year
  • Access to the cooking area

Travel matters for the price: we include travel in the quote, with any London charges listed. Give us the address so the quote is accurate.

What to tell us

To check the date and the space, tell us:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Any venue rules
  • Your menu choices
  • Where the roaster could go, ideally with a photo

Numbers not final yet? Give us your best estimate and we’ll quote on that, and you can confirm nearer the time. Use our quote form.

Space, access and the venue

Planning the cooking spot is the key. Check these:

  • Flat outdoor ground for the roaster and a gazebo
  • Vehicle access close to the cooking area
  • Cover for your guests in bad weather

Bexley is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and access can be tight: let us know how we reach the cooking spot and where we can park.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

FAQs for Bexley

Can you get a hog roast into a London garden in Bexley?

It depends on access: a rear gate or yard usually works. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Can you do a hog roast in Danson Park?

Only if the landowner, generally the council, allows it. Check with them first.

Will people get crackling?

Yes, the crackling is shared out as we carve.

Do you do DIY hog roast hire?

We do, if you’re happy to roast and carve yourself. We will explain the details with your quote.

Is there a non-pork option?

There are lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan options: spit-roast lamb, rotisserie chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan burger or sausage. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

What’s included?

Pork, stuffing, apple sauce and crackling in a soft roll. Sides and extra meats are listed in your quote.

What happens in bad weather?

Rain doesn’t stop the cooking. A marquee, hall or barn for eating makes all the difference.

The earlier the better for popular dates. But do ask even at short notice: send us your details through our quote form.
