How our hog roast hire works in Cote
It is a simple format that suits most crowds: roast pork in a soft roll, with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling, plus lamb, chicken, vegetarian and vegan choices if you want them. We serve halloumi skewers, coleslaw and new potatoes, and we’re often booked for big birthdays and anniversaries and Fêtes, fairs and shows.

FAQs for Cote
Is Cote too small for a hog roast?
No, we come to small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and the ground.
Can you roast near the sea around Cote?
Yes. We roast under cover and choose a sheltered spot where we can.
Who serves?
You don’t need anyone else: we carve, serve and tidy up.
How big a hog will we need?
Quantities are based on your numbers, and we will talk it through when we quote.
Can you be flexible on serving time?
Within reason, we can. Keep us posted on the day and we’ll adjust.
Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?
You can have us cook, or hire the machine. We’ll explain what’s included in each when we quote.
Do we need a big space?
Many gardens are big enough, and a way to wheel the equipment through. A photo helps us check.
Do you serve the crackling?
It is: slow roasting crisps the skin and we break it up for everyone.
Full catering or machine hire?
Timing is the tricky part of roasting your own: a whole hog takes hours, and it needs to be cooked through safely. If that sounds stressful, choose the catered option.
A DIY hog roast suits a relaxed party where someone enjoys cooking. For bigger or more formal events, catering takes the pressure off.
A hog roast or other catering?
The obvious catch is that a hog roast is pork. So we offer lamb, chicken and vegetarian and vegan choices too for anyone who doesn’t eat it. Midweek and quieter months are often easier to book, and the menu you choose makes a difference too. Ask us and we’ll suggest the best fit for your budget.

What happens on the day
On the day, we set up the roaster on the agreed spot, put the cover up and start the roast. It then roasts slowly for several hours, worked back from your serving time. Light matters for a long roast: around Cote, it stays light until about 9:20pm at midsummer, while in December the light goes at about 4:00pm, so winter bookings need lighting from mid-afternoon.
- We start with a few details about your event.
- You get an availability check and a clear quote.
- We agree timings and where the roaster goes.
- We roast slowly on site, then carve for your guests.
- Our staff serve and clear, then we pack away.
Before we arrive
- Let us know about tight access
- Ensure the cooking area is away from walls, tents and trees
- Confirm numbers ahead of the day

Allergies and dietary needs
Most people love a hog roast, but it’s pork. Some ways to look after everyone:
- We don’t offer halal meat, so arrange that separately if it’s needed
- Add a dietary question to your invitations
- Tell guests what’s on the menu in advance
- Tell us about vegetarians and vegans so we bring enough halloumi skewers and vegan burgers or sausages
Everything for serving comes with us, so all you need is the space.
We can supply china instead of standard plates, quoted separately.
Working with your venue
Marquee suppliers typically set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. The roaster stays a safe distance from the marquee.
If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, a PA or on a committee, tell us who our contact on the day will be. We’ll keep you both updated.
