Book a hog roast in Dean

Working with your venue

Marquee suppliers normally set distances for cooking equipment, so let them know about the roaster. We’ll keep the roaster well clear of the marquee.

Some venues charge a fee if you bring in your own caterer, so check before you book. We will liaise with them on access and set-up.

About our hog roast hire in Dean

Hiring a hog roast means a whole hog cooked slowly on site, for hours, under a gazebo outside. When it’s ready, our chef carves it and our staff serve it in soft rolls with stuffing, apple sauce and a piece of crackling. On the menu are salads, spit-roast lamb and crackling, and typical bookings are for village fêtes and school fairs and wedding breakfasts and evening food.

In a small place like Dean, a hog roast often goes in a field, a farmyard or a big garden. Country lanes and long drives are fine if we know about them, and level, firm ground is the key. The carving happens right in front of your guests, so every roll gets hot pork and a piece of crackling.

You will get allergen information for everything we serve. To make the most of it:

  • Remember that stuffing usually contains gluten, so ask for the allergen list

What comes off the roaster

Halloumi and vegetable skewers (V)

Vegetarians get halloumi and vegetable skewers, so they get something hot and satisfying too.

Rolls and gluten-free rolls

Soft rolls hold the pork, stuffing and apple sauce together, easy to eat standing up. Ask for gluten-free rolls if you need them.

Full catering or machine hire?

We also hire out the hog roast machine for confident cooks. You do the roasting and carving; we’ll confirm what comes with it when you ask.

DIY hire works best when someone in the family loves cooking. For weddings and bigger events, a catered roast is usually easier.

Dean questions

Is Dean close to London?

About 60 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Do you come out to small places like Dean?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and the cooking spot.

What about guests who do not eat pork?

Add lamb, chicken, halloumi and vegetable skewers or a vegan option. Please note we do not offer halal meat.

Is hog roast hire catered or DIY?

You can have us cook, or hire the machine. Your quote will set out what’s included.

Can you roast in the rain?

We roast under cover, so the food is not affected. Your guests will want somewhere dry to eat.

Cooking is gas-fired, so no mains power is needed for the roast. Power can help with lighting after dark.

Is it just pork?

Add lamb or rotisserie chicken alongside the pork. Vegetarian and vegan options are available too.

How long does a hog roast take to cook?

Hours rather than minutes. We will confirm our arrival time when we quote.
